Just curious on what your favorite combat spell was. I just completed the game and it seems to me that the best had to be, no doubt, INSANITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love watching them bash each other and the spell ALWAYS seemed to work on at least half of the monsters, esp when you get poewr cast. I liked pandemonium as well but it seems to scare them the most and just draw out the time it took to kill monsters. Anyway, just curious!

Early on it has to be Insanity. Seems to effect most monsters and not only does it keep them from attacking you but they also beat up their friends.

Later in the game I find that Pandemonium is more effective. I tend to get about 25% of those affected with insanity.

My early choices would be web (love that sticky stuff!) and insanity.

Personally, I use at least one or more Freeze Flesh spells or Aresting Aria instruments per battle. I would say that on 90% of monsters their lowest resist is usually water. Higher up in the game most mobs are very resistant to Mental and Divine, as in 100+ but I usually see water tops out at 90 or so. Unless of course you are fighting water elementals or something.

My Samurai who uses Bloodlust (which means he can't use a bow) always starts battle with freeze flesh, then bard, then bishop (depending on circumstances of course). Usually 3 separate casts of that in the first round and 80% of all mobs are incapacitated, if not all of them. Then I wade in and mop up.

Insanity was nice in the early/mid game, and still has it's uses at times... but i've found that in late game most stuff is way to resistant to mental/divine.
