I was fighting my way through a bunch of Rapax close to Ferro and he decided to help me like most of the other green NPC's do and he died. I don't have the beadge yet or his amoury key. Do I need him to gert these things or am I ok?

From what I can tell, you can still play to the end . But he sells wonderful stuff, including custom pieces like ivory blade that are VERY helpful. I recommend reloading and trying to run over to him (right door, then left?) to give him aid in the big fight. You can cast armor plate, heal all, etc., when he's in range. You'll take a beating but it's worth it!

Well, you won't be able to buy anything from him now, and that's a pity, since he sells the best stuff in the game, especially ammo (not to mention the Mantis Boots & Gloves, the Cloaks of Many Colors, etc.).

However, as far as the game itself, no, you're not screwed. The Templars are up on the balcony in the main room, and you can go there to join up. Ferro has nothing to do with becoming a Templar (except annoy you until you do it).

The armory has some decent stuff in it, but nothing really extraordinary.

Still, I'd restore to when Ferro was still alive, just for the merchandise he stocks.

From what I experienced, they wont attack him, unless YOU are in combat mode, so if you stay away til the rapax won't be able to reach Fenro, that would be the best way to go.. there are 2 ways into the shop.. if you take the back door, you might also be able to intervene if you wish to ignore the first (and better) advice

Hope this helps.

If you get in a battle and a needed NPC joins, just keep an eye on his/her health and throw a healing spell to the character to keep him/her alive.

Thanks for your help, glad to know I can go on. i was in this huge fight with about 25 enemies on me and was slowly retreating around courners to avoid casters and ended up next to Ferro. I was trying to keep him a live but close to the end of the fight, some of the bad guys ran off. He chased them. I didn't notice right away until later on when I came back to sell to him. My most recent save up to this is 50 days ago. Guess I will have to finish without him.

It's a pity because he sells stuff that I could finnaly use. I have a Samourai hobbit, Ninja hobbit, Monk Feary, and 2 other spellcaster that are a pain to equip in decent stuff. Ferro sells tons of awesome stuff that I could use.

You can try Bela in the mountain wilderness for some nice stuff as well.

AND one advice: SAVE, got damn SAVE your game, unless you play Ironman!

Yep I know about Bella and ZI know about saving. I have 4 main save slots but I managed to save over dead Ferro before I realized he was dead. I have all the stuff I think I need for Accesion Peak, I just have to get there and do it.

I also managed to kill off the Sargent that I rescued. No matter what I did, the jerk wouldn't leave my party so I let him die in a fight. I kept taking hime to the general and the kept saying you have your orders, move out..the sargent kept saying to take him to the general but he'd never leave. Well he's 'gone' now. You should have saved the seargent. Big points if you can take him back fron Rayjin to Yamir. And it solves a quest. On the other hand, you get big points in other non-quest battles, so doing certain quests are not neccesary to get experience, in the bigger picture. Speaking of regretful moves, there is a bit of wisdom in:

Save Early, Save Often. (but use different files)

I keep at least three versions of the game (current party) at any time, just in case. Of course the trick is to know which ones, other than the primary save, to return to as a point to reload! By this I mean the turning points that change the whole game. I made a mistake in 2nd game (my party of 4 I am working with), didn't return the Umpani flag before I did some Umpani quests. Now the T'rang are hostile, and I will have to kill them. You have to butter up the T'rang, they need a "one up" on the Umpani. Z'Ant questions your loyalty all the time, even if you are making them happy. The Umpani do not. A subtle thing. That's why this game is so good, it keeps you guessing about which path to take next. My 2 cents...
