Viconia... When I gave her my blessing to leave, I thought the romance would continue. I thought I would meet up with her again, in the Underdark, perhaps. Would someone please spoil me here? I didn't expect things to end like this, and I don't want to have to load an OLD save game to get her back. I just want to know if I meet up with her again in SOA. I've looked through the boards and FAQs for hours, so someone knowledgeable, please indulge me. ouonnouo@ticon.net

Why did I know that this would be the subject of this thread? Yep, if you let her go, she's gone for good. You have to tell her that , even if she doesn't love you. you need her to stay with the party. Then, in TOB, the romance starts up, again. Fellas, you really need to role-play this. She's in love with you, though she won't admit it, even to herself, she's scared to death, she thinks she's drawing danger to YOU. So, she offers to leave the one man who's accepted her and shown her kindness, out of self-sacrificing nobility. So, you tell her to just go away? Of course, she's outta there. I think that the reason that you can't find her again is that , without your protection, Lolth kills her, easily.

I believe Helspanth is correct. You will have no luck getting the romance back. I know that if you are able to get her back into the party you could use a CLUA command to set the romance variable back but that isn't really the way to go about it.

Good luck though.

You didn't honestly think that men would be able to understand the workings of a woman, did you?

That interpretation rings of both truth and heartwrenching pathos. I'm going to pick Viconia up for my next good male character.

The game (for me) really is so much better if you role play and pretend you're the character.

Of course that meant I went after Imoen above all else and I'm having to really strategerize to win battles.

Many thanks to all of you for the insight. I have decided, in lieu of my losing Viconia, to begin at the beginning with my character, Muad'dib. He's a true neutral fighter... and I made a sound set for him using my own voice, and a picture of Paul Atreidies in a stillsuit. This pairing of two fantasy worlds created an intense feeling of identity within me for this character, and... it's strange, but I felt really awful when Viconia left Muad'dib. I have played through BGTOTSC and almost all the way several times through SOA, but never finished. I now have a character who I truly feel has something to do with myself (I only watched Dune obsessively as a kid, if you hadn't figured that). I never expected a game to affect me in such a way, but for the first time, I feel I am truly role-playing. What a marvelous, terrible, beautiful way to use one's mind.
I will always be sentimentally attatched to the Baldur's Gate games. I'm starting at Candlekeep again, and I'm going to buy TOB when the time comes. Until I finish them all, I'm going to do my best not to hack, mod, or edit ANYTHING in the game. Again, thankyou for the help. ouonnouo@ticon.net
