Hello Wiz8 players!

I've been roaming this forum a couple of days now and I thought to myself this is a real cool place 'cause everyone is really friendly (no flaming, spamming,...) and knows a lot of this great game. So I joined.

The game itself is awesome and, although I never made it to the end in the past, this time I'm confident to beat it. There are a lot of details which I discovered while playing and they make this game very special (High-end graphixx is not everything).

My party (~ lvl 18) consists of (exept of myles famale only):

Myles (the damage he packs with Fang is incredible!)
Vi Domina (uses dread spear; cheating death helped alot in the beginning )
Dracon Lord (uses saint bastard and Canezou dagger)
Human Samurai (her lightning strikes and critical hits keep rapax awake at night)
Human Ranger (the same with ranged criticals)
Hobbit Gadgy (VapoRizes one enemy nearly every round or 'stones' party when she's not machine-gunning lightning bolts with OmniGun)
Human Bishop (due to lack of Wiz8 exp. her skills where a bit misdeveloped , but casts good defensive and offensive magic or bashes skulls with Cat'o nine tails)
Feary Mage (good staff-swinger and casts devastating magic)

Naturally, as a relative noob in this game there are some questions I hope someone can answer:

1.
I have all 3 Canezou items and answer the questions of AL correctly, but when I want to sacrifice a member she always states: 'She is not right for me'?
What have I done wrong or am I to low in lvl or stats?

2.
What is that drunken rapax NPC in the cellar good for (doesn't sell anything nor gives away info nor want's to join)?

3.
Has the spell 'charm' any sense (doesn't seem to really influence NPCs, nor can be cast at attacking NPCs)?

4.
How can anyone hope to kill Nessie or that mental-magic-using robot in the sea caves (can't remember the name and I havent retried this monsters for about 8 lvls, am I strong enough now)?

Thanks in advance!

P.S.: Please excuse any misspells or grammatical faults, because my english is not perfect (yet ).

Friendly, huh? Lemme tell ya, Ghoul, I hate undead. I have always hated undead. However...

For a fellow gamer, I can make an exception

1. Al-Sedexus likes "sacrifices" with good stats, especially strength and vitality. So give her the person who is best in those areas. She will not accept an NPC, by the way. You must give her one of your own.

2. The drunken Rapax is the Constable. You can pick his pocket and get the key to his safe. That will allow you to loot the unreachable chests in the treasury.

3. I never used charm myself (perhaps it's handy if you tick off an NPC), but some people cast it over and over early in the game to bring up magic skills.

4. Nessie is very tough, and I usually just ran away. I did manage to kill her a couple of gamess, but it wasn't easy. Others here will be able to give you some strategies.

Hello and welcome to the forums!

1) Al Sedexus prefers a male but I've read somewhere that she will take a female but you can't have any male RPC's (Recruitable Player character) with you. Dump myles and then try it and see what happens. In future, it's a good idea to have at least one male in your party just for this occasion lol

2)Nightowl answered this for you I'd do the pickpocketing, there are some really nice items in the treasure chests

3)If you cast charm on the vendors before you try to purchase things, if the charm spell works you can buy things at cheaper rates and sell things at higher rates. It's also a good way to build up a casters mental realm

4)It is possible to beat nessie at level 15 even easier at level 18 If you can cast summon elemental or have any canned elementals with you, you can have someone throw an elemental to help with the fight. Use Amormelt on her! It works great, I've noticed a high level armormelt will allow you to hit and penetrate more often on her. She seems to be immune to most magic except the armor melt and few other spells like draining and toxic cloud so throw out a few of those spells then move into melee range and hack her to death lol

5) I think you're referring to the death lord (metal casting thingy) They can be tough to beat, especially when they throw those death clouds or death wish, but it's very possible to beat them at level 18. Fang is a great sword. Give it to your Lord and have him hack the death lord to pieces. Also make sure you have a caster who can cast a high level purify air to get rid of the death clouds he throws at your party.

You're english is great, no worries

I will add a few comments as well.

1. She prefers males. She will take a female if you dismiss Myles. Drop him in the room, try again, and pick him up afterward.

2. The key is used in a wall safe in an upper room. Then you take what you find there to the King's Quarters to get your prizes.

3. Charm is used when talking to a merchant. Never used it but I hear it is a good way to raise Psionic.

4. Nessie gets much easier when you are above lev 15 or so, depending on your party. At 18 shouldn't be too bad. I don't remember a robot in Sea Caves. The Crypt Keeper isn't too bad if you have all protections on and run at him to melee.

Yes, IW is a great place to be. But that is besides the point right now...

Most of your answers have been clarified already, but here some additional info.

About Charm
Charm had a far better purpose way back when Crusaders of the Dark Savant was made (Wiz7). Back then, you actually had to negotiate to get an NPC to like you. I really don't understand why they brought it through to wiz8 other than two reasons: To train in mental (and musical if you get the violin) and to get shopkeepers to be like you (obviously). It's just less of a hassle if you accidently piss off an NPC (granted he doesn't attack you) to charm him and have him like you, instead of loading. Loading can take a long @$$ time, especially for ppl with old comps. Save yourself the hassle and just charm them.

As for the "robot creature". I do believe you are refferring to the Crypt Keeper. You fought him and got your @$$ beaten at level 10. I understand why... you were too low of a level to be in that place. Level 18 should be no prob to fight this guy. For kicks, throw in a few summons and weaken him with hex, armormelt, insane, etc. Have fun with him. Don't forget the basics when fighting him (Enchanted Blade, Magic Screen, Armorplate, Element Shield, Soul Shield, etc)

hello ghoul! welcome to IW!

i will only add one thing. al-sedexus WILL accept male NPCs (eg myles) if your whole party is female. i've done this using RFS when i had an all female party.

so you dont have to get rid of myles. you can just equip him with the bits and let him... do what needs to be done...

1) There is a little trick with the cursor when you make your selection. You have to touch the picture frame rather than in the pic itself. (or the stat-bar-window, whatever of your char you have showing).

As for Charm, its only purpose really is to practise up your Mental Realm and either Divinity or Psionic School Skills.

WOW, thx for all the answers!

Gonna go bash up Nessie and the Keeper ASAP (yes, I think it was the keeper not a deathlord because smashed them when I got Fang)!
But first I have to kill some giant Frog Crock is afraid of (and he did take my Gadgy away from me, didn't he? (perhaps threw an eye on her the old donogood ). I need her back at all costs because she got some really nice stuff like the reg. stone, and the water cannon.

I presume the Keeper is guarding the Destinae Dominus so should I go visit the Trynnie Shaman before I go kill him, because my Journal stats to do so after reading Marten's Journal and getting the idol?
After that I plan to sacrifice Myles to AL (I hope he isn't a goner after that because he's a really good fighter and makes very funny comments).

I hope I'll be able to report on the death of Nessie soon (if I manage it past those rinjinn).

One more question: Can I give Ferro the ingredients of more than one custom item at a time (I got all he needs for Vampire Chain and for Mirror Armor and I gave him the Ivory Blade stuff already, but he's not finished yet with it)?

The Crypt Keeper guards the way to the Dominus, rather than the thing itself. You do have to get rid of him and his friends before you can proceed. Be sure to search all the bodies around the place, too.

Yes, you had better get in to see the Trynnie Shaman (Shaman Das) before heading off to the Sea Caves. You don't wanna end up like Marten Get your missing Gadgeteer back and go see the Shaman.

Dunno about Ferro; it's been a long time now since I had custom items made. Someone else can probably tell you.

The sacrifice to Al-Sedexus doesn't die. However, keep in mind that there are worse fates than death. HEH
