make a good use of jan!

how do you guys use jan?
i know he's a very good thief and i L-I-K-E his dialouges, but he's not that useful in combat for me.
so...
any ideas about how to use him?
or any equipments ideas?

Well, I like to use him in the back in battles, to range-support. But I also use him as a thief and a mage pretty otfen.

I use him as a statue. He look very good in the Middle of the Government District.

I called this one "The black market Gnome".

i usually use him as a generic mage/thief. use light crossbow of speed (I think Ribald has one... or maybe Bernard), short sword of backstabbing, and dump all of his thieving points into hide/sneak. He's good enough at all of the other stuff with his personal items he doesn't really need help. He usually has about a quarter of my kills, due to his fun! illusion skills and backstabs. he IS a mage, AND a thief, both of which ought to be in the back anyways.

In ToB, he has the extra advantage of being one of the very few characters that can learn the great thief High Level Abilities.

And he's even funnier than Minsc!!!

And, nothing is funnier then Minsc. [img]tongue.gif[/img] Except for Boo. Jan and Minsc together thoguh, that is hilarious. [img]smile.gif[/img]

I found the Jan has a tough time surviving battles because of his custom armor. Once i pumped his skills up enough, i could put different armor on him. elven chain is good.

I'd just like to see them TRY to kill Jan when he's got his Stoneskin/Mirror Image/Hide in Shadows/Cloak of Non-Detection.

He actually has more HP than Haer'Dalis, although Haer does have at least 15% natural Resistance to almost everything.

Jan's good for a scout, but I wouldn't Backstab with him without a STR girdle. He's part of my Neutral party now, and the fun thing is that we're all magic-users. (CN Elven Fighter/Mage, Anomen, Jaheira, Jan, Haer'Dalis, Nalia.)

15% Resistance?!?!?
iv'e played many times with HD and the Res was never there!!!
are you sure?
still, jan's armor gived 25% resistance to physical damage
