Why does everybody hate these Democrats? I hear anti-Democratic slogans on TV (Cartman once said "Democrats Piss Me off!") also some Americans I meet say that Democrats are:

- @-Holes
- Wackos
- Bloodsuckers
- Mutha--

and the list just goes on! This is a real head scratcher!

In the absense of any real political argument or platform, calling people names helps deflect from that point. Remember in this day and age of radio and tv media, it only takes a few loudmouths to make name-calling seem like a popular position. The Democratic candidate in last U.S. presidential election did have slightly more of the actual votes, so its not as bad as it seems.

Of course the opponents of the Democrats are going to call names and do what ever it takes to make themselves look better and vice-versa. Politics as usual.

One of the myriad reasons why I'm an independent, don't hear anybody calling them names.

Actually, Rush Limbaugh just the other day, said something about independants and moderates 'not able to make up there mind' and 'just jumping on whatever side has the most momentem at the time'. Thos wearn't his exact words, but that was his point.

Ah Rush, he name-calls with the best of em. I don't find that to be a very thoughtful or accurate "point" myself, but its good to hear that Democrats and Liberals are no longer the only crowd drawing his ire. It shows he can broaden his horizons.

Of course I havent listend to his show since my days as a long distance driver in the Clinton bashing 90's, so I have no real informed opinion on his current rhetoric.

I recall reading a majority of Americans consider themselves moderates or independent. If thats true that's a whole lot of indecisive people.

I'm one person who doesnt care what side has the "momentuem" and examines as many facts as possible before making up my mind on an issue. I think flexibility of opinion is a strength, not a weakness.

I don't even know who this 'Rush Limbaugh' is but the statement of his that you paraphrase seems to betray a disturbing degree of ignorance. He seems to assume that there are only two sides to a political situation, and that one must be for or against one of these sides in order to hold a valid standpoint. Now I realise these were his words and not yours IR, but I find that line of bi-polar thinking both infantile as well as dangerous. Independant thinkers may very well have made up their mind, they may possess more conviction for their beliefs than any 'Republican' or 'Democrat' alive. Just because someone is not for you, does not mean they are against you. Side-taking factionalism is a cancer in modern politics, one which threatens to strangle the free spirit of democracy itself. It's nothing new of course, but just because it has always been, does not mean it need always be.

You hit the nail on the head. I dont really like Rush Limbaugh all that much. I like Sean Hannity and Michael Medved way better. My mom was listening to him the other day and I happen to hear that bit. I dont agree with it at all really. I was just pointing out that independents dont get away from the bashing.

From my standpoint.
R = better pay and benefits. But we are still way below the mark. On the flip side, longer and greater deployments, more use of our war fighting skills.

D = better economy. Lower pay raises and loss of benefits. Not as many deployments, training precedes war fighting skills.

Democrat hopefull? Graham, well he like back in the 80s co-authored a thing called the Graham-Rudman act. So, he can forget about getting any of the military votes.

Ohhhh...I see. So the Democrats are basically sissies, right? I had a feeling that was the case.
