Jaheira: Your Opinions Please

I am still early in the game where I have yet to decide what my full party will be. Putting aside the whole romance thing, how do you feel Jaheira will hold up as a fighter? At the moment her greatest value is being able to heal along with a few other spells. Thanks ahead of time.

It is possible to tank with jaheria, but ive never used her as more than a secondary fighter, keeping minor threats off the flanks of my magic users.

Her healing abilities mean you want to have her off the front line anyway.

Without ToB Installed:

Jaheira is very good with Slings from the beginning. Equip her with a decent sling like the, Sling of Seeking +2 or the Sling of Everand. Sling of Arvoreen +4 from the Cult of the Unseeing Eye quest is nice too, as too is the Arla's Dragonbane +3 from the Umar Hill quest.

Since she will be a ranged attacker, she can safely cast spells from the backline, safe behind your party tanks( melee warriors). Speaking of which, Jaheira has an excellent range of summoning spells. It is in my opinion that Fire Elementals and Mountain Bears are her best summoning spells.

Fire Elementals are immuned to fire( duh), normal weapons and +1 enchanted weapons. They are also moderately good against Beholders( when they run out of Death Spells). Mountain Bears on Haste are terrific melee combatants and deal damage like nobody's business. They are simply awesome in melee intensive fights.

As a Druid, Jaheira can cast Insect Plague( lvl 5 Druid spell) as well, and this is the number one spell to use against enemy Mages. Some people use Jaheira solely for this spell.

I suggest you place proficiency points into Spears and Two-Handed Weapon Style however, as Jaheira levels up. This is because there is a devasting spear in Chapter 4 which Jaheira can use. You will not be disappointed.

Once you switch Jaheira to melee, do not forget to utilise her spells before entering into the fray of combat. Ironskins is simply priceless, and she can cast Insect Plague before engaging the enemy.

With ToB Installed:

All of the above, plus the fact that Jaheira can now use said SoA Spear to deal ridicuous damage. If you want even more ridiculous damage, start putting points into Quarterstaffs so that you can use a certain ToB quarterstaff that is simply the most damaging weapon in the game.

That said and done, I kill Jaheira at the start of the game and leave her to rot in her cage. Not because she is weak, but because I dislike her attitude.

Personally, I can't stand Jaheira, especially if you're playing a good party...on top of all her nattering, she constantly complains when you get the super high reps that you do by playing "Good." Neutral or Evil parties may fare better with her.

I generally take her through the starter dungeon, then dump her in Waukeen's so she can go off to the Harpers. Aerie or Anomen can do as a healer, or, if you MUST have a Druid, either A) create your main character as one, or B) pick up Cernd in Trademeet, which you can do pretty soon on after starting Chapter 2. Cernd doesn't have good fighting skills (until he changes to werewolf in which case he's awesome), but he's a straight druid and has much higher wisdom stats than does Jaheira.

It all comes down to personal preference, I guess. Jaheira grinds on my nerves like fingernails on a blackboard, and with a male lead, I'd sooner kiss a toad than have a romance with her. [img]tongue.gif[/img] If ever I play a female lead, I may leave her in the party and see how she does, although I think a romance with Anomen would be doubly disgusting. I personally have Jaheira in all of my parties (except the evil one)
and she is awesome for the reasons that Dundee Slaytern said.
A solid character!

i love her. At the moment just for fun she is my main healer. I just script her an Palidin aggresssive and give hera shild and club. She makea good back up fighter in my opinon. I also like her to summon the nymph in big fights another target for the bad guys some casting anda group heal works great

Once she get to a high level she is an AWESOME tank. In a one on one fight with Minsc (I was playing around), she totally whupped him. She also won against Keldorn (with Carsomyr) and she won against Valygar, too. Her ac is -9, she has 80 something hps, she has a great weapon, Blackblood, and she casts MAJOR spells. (fire elementals kick butt).
She wears the Red dragon scale armor, some shield +4, (forgot the name), Blackblood, Cloak of the Shield, Helm of Disruption,(I think)
ring of fire protection, Sling of Avoreen +4, +2 bullets. Put those together, and they all add up to one awesome tank.
