I'm suprised this hasnt come up yet. Or has it??? I didnt see it....
Anyways, discuss.
What do you think of the decision? I think it's one of the greatest things I have ever seen anyone do for others.

LOL at the seventh comment on the article: "If only he could prevent viruses on Windows!"

Anyway yeah, nice to see he's putting some of his money to great use.

::lifts a shoulder:: For Gates, 750 million over ten years? Good for him, but consider just how much money he's giving. Not that he's not doing a good thing, but don't go falling over each other to sing his praises when ordinary people give more to charity, in terms of the amount they give and their income.

My friend told me yesterday that Bill Gates wrote in his will that when he would be dead, all of his money would go to chairty. All of it and he says he won't give them to his children because he wants them to work just as hard as he did. You got to admire a guy like that.

Yup, I heard that too, although I think his kids get about 10 Mill each, but there are requirements or something.

Well, it's true that he's a corporate crocodile, but he's also a good humanitarian. I've been impressed with that aspect of his personality for a while.

Before knocking him, one should consider the other billionaires who do nothing (or very little) toward mitigating the plight of those who need it. A drop in the bucket of his fortune? Well, it's a mighty big and worthwhile drop.

Also it's probably quite significant in terms of his ready cash, considering how much of his worth on paper is tied up in his controlling interest in Microsoft.

You don't want to hear anything bad about Bill Gates because of this? Yes, he is a generous bilionaire, but that doesn't in any way counter the criticism of his business practices. Knowing about this generosity, we can't say anything bad about how he uses the money; but that won't stop me from complaining about how he gets it, or from telling people just how over-the-top-excellent MS products are in comparison to the competition..

Make his Windows immune/ or near immune from viruses. Then I'll change my mind about him.
