My LE sole monk just hit Balthazar and stopped dead. For someone that just took out Abazigal and Draconis with his bare hands this is not a pleasant thought.

Eventualy Ill get lucky and nobody will use either of the two attacks which I fear. But it would help if there were items which could protect me from said attacks - I feel better not depending on luck and endless reloads.

I cant recall any items which protect from stun or unconciousness though, but that dosent mean there arent any. Can anybody think of one, preferably in or around amkethran?

Oh and to knock the obvious suggestions out - I was *stupid* enough not to take Hardiness, Monks cant use Wands with Ascension installed and im already casting Regeneration and Hand of Murder before the conversation in order to get Whirlwind rolling straight off the bat. And im evil so I cant get him to join with me.

Unconciousness is unavoidable save through saves.

I wear the Ring of Free Action to prevent stuns.

Do not bother using Greater Whirlwinds when he has Chant on( he will have a golden hue), it grants him extraordinary physical damage resistance( read, 3-4 damage per hit). Strike with Greater Whirlwind when he does not have Chant activated( read, 20+ damage, see the difference? ).

Get rid of his men first, otherwise they will hinder you. You are soloing, it is best to be able to concentrate on the boss without interruptions

If at any time you are badly injured, and wish to retreat to recover, keep running in circles until you are out of Balthazar's sight, make sure you have been out of his sight for about 4-5 seconds, then pause the game and activate your planar shift to go back to your planar stronghold.

Why dont people understand the delicate art of luring people out ? *sigh* When i played him with a solo cavaliar i lured him out(if you wanna learn that play a solo assassin) and killed him, might be because of casomyr's effect, but it should work with a monk too as they get far more powerful, as soon as you kill him, you get teleported to the pocket plane and his minion go poof

Lure him out? As in out of the room?

Never really tried that, as his minions are easily dispatched.

Amazing what a Deva with Globe of Blades can do.

I tried using Carsomyr, but its dispel ability failed to work on Balthazar's Chant, so I ended up using the Sword of Grief +5.

It came to me in a dream. Ravager. Oh yes, awesome physical resistance, bonus damage and all that. Plus Monks make the best Ravagers because they are the best at pure melee.

Didnt work out quite like that though, while the ravager is more than capable of taking out all of the students and balthazar in a very short space of time, you cant start the cutscene as a Ravager or you die.

So I had to waste the students, knock Balthazar down to injured after he cast "second wind", and then switch to human and kick arse. Done it though. Next up, the Ravager. Wonder if Ravager will work on that as well?

Oh and whacky, you cant lure balthazar out because he wont follow you straight off and his students home on your position relentlessly. You can get alone with him for a brief time, but with those four on you you dont have the time. It might be different without ascension though.

Andrewas i wasnt telling to lure the poor guy outta the room, all i was saying is that your assassin shows an enemy a glimpse, then runs away, then it comes after you, then you beat it like a bully 'cause the rest of his friends dont know that he has gone after you, i did it the same way with balthazar, maybe its because i've mastered the art of running away and coming back with a bigger badder army cause in most major fights, you dont get to cast summons beforehand, thats why mastering the art of fleeing and luring is so important with

Maybe if I had an assasin. But those students are pretty quick and they always follow you. I did manage to get balthazar alone one or two times, but never longer than 4 seconds.

However, Balthazarrs "Faster than the Eye" almost proved his undoing in one of my early attempts when it left his four students against me alone and unsupported. Unfortunatley the last one knocked me unconcious and it was all over.

Ravager got em though. Almost too easy. Although Ravager didnt work too well against the Ravager challenge. Still, nothings perfect. Hit&run while leading the Bone Blades to the edge got him.

On the last battle now. Have to think about that one. Bohdis to tough to take on (Shes immune to everything ive thrown at her so far) so I think its better to recruit her, which means there are *two* fallen solars to deal with. Ark, and Imoen doing her slayer thing. I can take her down but in the time it takes I get hurt *bad* (Irenicus has returned, and hes the *only* mage ive run against that uses spells effectively. Time Stop + Improved Alacrity, Lower Resistance, hes got em all), and she can match me for speed so I cant just run away from her. Nice if there was a way to un-dominate her.

I havent played the battle enough yet to say Ive given up hope though.

? You can summon beforehand for the Improved Balthazar fight. When I fought him with my solo Sorcerer, Balthazar had 4 Planetars and countless Skeleton Warriors surrounding him while he was talking to my Sorcerer. You can only imagine the carnage that followed... ...

On a side note, there are two disciples on the left, and two on the right, how exactly do you run out of sight from them?
