Default Looking for a dependable router

Hey guys. I've moved to South Carolina and am back on broadband (so glad to get rid of AT&T DSL). I am currently using a D-Link DIR601 which I got free through my work but it is killing my bandwidth capacity (currently, wifi is 17Mbps of 30Mbps available. Hardwired desktop even worse than that!!) I have been studying all day and found that the dual band routers are not all they are hyped up to be...anyway, I am just tired of reading reviews because every "good" router has people making complaints about it for some reason. Do any of you have a dependable router that is amazing enough to brag about to me?

Here's what I'm working with:
x1 hardwired PC
x2 laptops
x2 Droids
x1 Wii that we connect to Netflix

Signal strength does not need to extend beyond the main level of the house. No upstairs or basement use needed. Current signal strength with the DIR601 to this laptop at the furthest distance from the router: 4 bars. There is no distance issue even with that weak old thing.

By the way, after spending many hours on Amazon.com and Newegg, I have been considering one of the following:

Linksys EA4500
DLink DIR 857
Asus N900

I'm using the Linksys/Cisco Wired and Wireless "Wireless-N Gigabit Router"
Model: WRT310N and its worked fine for me for over a year... its like $60 now.

BUT.. There is a MUCH better one that has amazing reviews, and is cheap as well:

NETGEAR WNDR3700 $89 free shipping

I may upgrade to the Netgear version.. I can hook a usb hard drive up to it and stream movies to my consoles... And it looks to be USB 3.0 too. niiiice.

I dunno, but do you have to have Netgear Nic cards to run the router? Anyone know? I remember some company did that in the past, and was a pain in the ass.. I was fixing someones PC, and ran into it. If anyone knows, let me know.

Hope that helped Larry! The wireless on my current older router is great. runs fine. Has WPA and WPA2 and even higher Enterprise secutiry... loads of features.
