How many of you play D&D or AD&D and which is your favorite version (1, 2 or 3?)

2nd edition for me. 3rd edition simply defeats me with all those feats and skills.

Same... I like 2nd better than 3rd... mainly because of the multi-classing... the way it is done in 3rd edition just bugs the hell out of me

3rd ed seems too permissive. A non-human paladin, sorceror/thief - these things were forbidden in 2E for a reason.

*pauses to consider the monk/sorceror*

I havent heard of that one, but its got to be cheesy if its possible.

I like the 3rd ed core rules best though I agree that the concept of some things have been going a bit to the worse.

I think that the ability score rules of 3rd ed are clearly the best. In 2nd ed the difference between 9 and 14 dex was not very important while the difference between 17 and 18 was of great importance. In 3rd ed there is more incitament in creating characters with evened out ability scores. They also did away with the lame 18/xx strength scores.

The names of the saving throws in 2nd ed was also kinda stupid. Whyo would know that you had to take a breath weapon save to dodge a falling pillar for example. The three saving throws in 3rd ed (reflex, fortitude and will) makes much more sense and all have wide applications.

The skills system is much better than the non-weapon proficiency one and the idea about being proficient in simple or martial weapons are much better than being proficient in specific weapons.

There are some stupid things in 3rd ed though.

I'm not too fond of the feats idea.

The monk class is a stupid concept.

I liked kits better than prestige classes.

The idea that Raise Dead and Resurrection should be conjuration type is stupid.

They destroyed the psionicist class completely, now they are just caster classes with too few spells to cast and an unhealthy obsession with crystals.
