I'm going to start a Multiplayer game with a friend, but I've never done this before with a game like this, and I need some questions answered before we start.
I know we ned the same mods/ patches. got that covered. 1)I have shadowkeeper, will we both need that? 2)will shadowkeeper allow us to edit our game 3)we each want to create and control 3 characters. can we do that? and can we click on and control each others in the game? 4) I want to import atleast two characters from an earlier game. can I do that? will their stats/proficences/learned spells/etc. stay the same? 5)Can I bring items from an earlier game? Anything else I need to know? [ 11-24-2002, 03:07 AM: Message edited by: The Cavalier ] |

1. No, shadowkeeper it isnt apart of bg2. Its a seperate program that runs on its own.
2. Yes, although i dont see why you would want to 3. Yes you can create 3 characters each, but IIRC you can only control your characters. 4. Yes you can import as many characters as you want. If they are from bg1 and they are over its xp cap then they will have their xp put down to 89,000. Otherwise they shouldnt be changed. 5. Yes but thats lame. After starting a game, reimport your characters. Theres another way where you dump you equipment on the ground, but i cant remeber how thats done. Also make sure you both have the same cache and that its over 300mb, have the same frame rate, and possibly the same pathfinding search nodes.

Thanks for the answers.
2. Yes, although i dont see why you would want to I usually make a female character that is an interest in my real life, and that sometimes changes, so I sometimes need to change a picture or name Don't worry, I don't condone cheating at all. (same thing with number 5; he's a beginner, and I was gonna maybe give him some armor or something so he could hold his own till he got used to it) 3. Yes you can create 3 characters each, but IIRC you can only control your characters. What's IIRC? So, I can only control mine, and he can only control his (that's fine with the both of us) Also make sure you both have the same cache and that its over 300mb, have the same frame rate, and possibly the same pathfinding search nodes. WHAT??? Also: He wanted to be a dark night. Is there a mod or whatever out there that we can add to get that class, but won't really change the game otherwise? Will we have to run our systems on the same settings? ( Probaly not, right? I have a higher end system, while he does not. we will probaly minimize graphics to prevent lagging anyway) |

IIRC = If I Remember Correctly.
If you don`t understand caching, frame rates, and path finding; ask your friend. If he doesn`t know either, chances are they`re the same for both of you. |

Both of you download the Valen Mod, and install the anti-Paladin component of it. That will leave everything else exactly the same. Yes, you control yours, he controls his. As for same settings, it`s probably best to have atleast similar settings for the best performance. |

I guess an evil inquisitor works, but is there some way you can change the actual class name or whatever so it reads "Dark Knight"? That just sounds cooler. And if we were to make a change using Shadowkeeper, how would we manage that? And how does saving a game and resting work?

![]() 2) If you want to use Shadow Keeper, simply open it, choose the option that says 'Multiplayer Games', open the game, and edit all you want. ![]() 3) The DM, or the guy that has the IP and is listed first among the characters, is the only one who can save a game. IIRC, everybody can rest, etc. exactly when they want. ![]() |
