A pickpocketed item

I was just pickpocketing things left and right, when I came upon a beggar in the Bridge District. He coughed up an "Exotic Hide" but is this useful in any way? I can't seem to sell it either.

Oh, and don't ask what I was doing pickpocketing a beggar. [img]tongue.gif[/img]

The beggar's name is "Rampah" or something close to that. He's underneath that big stone arch that you have to go through in order to get to the Five Flagons Inn. You can't miss him.

A quick google search tells me that this item is a clue that may help you solve the Skinner Murder Mystery [img]smile.gif[/img] Probably has no other purpose.

The exotic hide is elephant hide.

It is part of a quest.

I always tried pickpocketing or attacking the guy (in that quest) in order to incite him into running down the stairs. I never even talked to the beggar before so I always missed this part. Oh well. I was hoping for something like Exotic Hide +10, MR +25%, complete immunity to Cold, Acid, Electricity and Fire.

I only payed him once for the armor, after that i realized if you keep saying you dont have that much then he will give it to you for free, say your poorer than him, and offer you some rat on a stick

how have you guys never done the skinner murders ? and... omg how stingy are you !¿?¡ you cant even give a poor starving begger a few coins ? I always give money to any beggers that ask, unless Im playing evil. I usually end up with a few hundred thousand gold coins by the end of the game anyway, so a coin here and there to help out a hungry guy doesnt hurt.

on a different note, playing BG1 today I pickpocketed some kid and got:
Large Shield +1/ +4 vs missiles

that's a keeper !
