Does anyone know how I could drop the party's rep in Brynnlaw (short of killing someone) to ensure that Viconia stays? She leaves once I got a +2 in rep (bringing it to 22) in the Brynnlaw jail.

It's tough to move your rep lower without actually killing someone.
One way to limit your bonus rep points is to always demand payment and rewards for your quests; don't say you'll do it for honor and justice, demand payment! In some cases this will result in you getting some extra gold (usually very small amounts) and no reputation increase. You can try doing the Brynnlaw quest that way and see if you can avoid the reputation bonus. After the Asylum, you will have a much easier time controlling your reputation.

Fail to steal from a shop keeper. This shopkeeper in brynnlaw is perfect for doing this, he doesnt sell any really good items, no guards come in and you lose 2 rep points. You will never be able to buy from him again once you do it though. And remember to turn AI off or your party will kill him once he turns hostile, making you lose 10 rep points.

I failed to pick pocket from the shopkeeper, but the rep didn't drop any pts. Interestingly, I didn't get any rep bonuses while in the Brynnlaw dungeon. Maybe it was a bug.

I didnt mean pickpocket the shopkeeper, I meant steal from him. But anyway, make sure you have the latest patch to get rid of some of the bugs in the game.

Hmmm... maybe Viconia leaving is the event which gives the +2 to rep. Although even with this theory further explanation is needed.

If you don't know how to post a screenshot:
-press PrtSc (Print Screen key) in the game -go to your Baldur's Gate 2 folder and locate ScrnShot folder -find your screenshot in there, open it with Paint, save it as .jpg file, and upload it somewhere -if you cannot upload it, zip it and send it to me

OK, Different NPCs, same issue: Jaheira and Aerie. They'd been bitching about each other for a while, but I wanted both. Finally it came to a head & Aerie stormmed off.
This Pisses me because Aerie is a much better cleric than Jaheira with kicker maic spells to boot. And I'd just dropped off Minsc too to get the sphere cleric. If only I'd Known....
