I've taken to wearing headphones when playing BG2. Just got these nifty aircraft-carrier-personnel-looking things. They're cushioned to form a chamber of sound around my ear. Sweet. Something Jan Jansen had a hand in creating, maybe?

Anyway, I blip through the game testing them out, and I pick up so many sounds I've never heard before. "If your mommy and daddy don't buy you a pointy stick, they don't love you!" A Monty Python fan on the staff, perhaps? While I was running around Trademeet, I could have sworn I heard a toilet flush. Just a soft, simple FWOOSH like you'd find in a restaurant or gas station toilet, y'know, when you don't have to hear the pipes? (Several of my relatives are plumbers. I guess it don't show, does it? ) Has anyone else heard the toilet flushing in Trademeet, or is it just my imagination?

...but I do get outside a lot. Just not for long--this Virginia heat is killer!

Also this was daytime Trademeet, not nighttime Trademeet.

I've never even heard the "pointed stick" one, even though I've certainly tried. They're too jumbled-up together for be to make out; the only one I can hear clearly is "The fastest animal, in the WORLD!" and then there's a girl doing her singsong sales pitch, but I can't distinguish any words.

If *I* were writing in a Monty Ptyhon reference at that point, I'd go for "Chaffinch brains....badger's spleens....wolf-nipple chips, get 'em while they're 'ot, they're lovely....dromedary pretzels, only half a dinar..."

I've found that when picking out merchant banter in Waukeen's Promenade or Trademeet, it's handy to talk to a merchant and look at his/her wares when there's a random merchant banter sounding off. If any ambient background sounds are still sounding off, you can hear them a bit more clearly.

True_Moose is right. I do need to get out more often.

Isn't it amazing how so many little things make this game so interesting. You'll always find something new as you keep playing. BTW, You probably already know this but if you go around right-clicking anyone or anything you'll hear a lot of goofy things that you normally wouldn't. One of my favorites is to click on a dog while my dog, Dotty, is in the room. Dotty goes wild thinking there is another dog nearby.

I can confirm that the one about the pointy-stick is true.

Some other ones: "I've got a spell to make the ladies love ya!". Weird when unregistered magic use is clearly outlawed (on the other hand Athkatla is crooked to the core).

You can also hear the ore merchant hawking her illithium. People who know the nature of the quest she is involved in will probably find this quite weird too.

I have some questions myself, however: I have unsuccessfully tried to decipher what the background voices in the temple of Helm are saying. Can anbody help me here?
