southeastern area of temple ruins?

i'm having trouble trying to figure out something in the temple ruins area. in the ruins there is a journal that suggests a hidden tresure in area. i couldn't find anything so i gave up. i recently installed ToB and went back to the same area using the new nifty tab button. i found the cache but the pointer doesn't turn to the open icon, but rather to the circle with a line through it. if somebody knows what this is please let me know cause it has been bothering me for a while now.

Not entirely positive from the description, but it sounds like part of the Ranger Stronghold quest. Is your PC a Ranger, by any chance? And is the journal something like "SuchAndSuch's Journal, 2nd Part"?

If so, you should try visiting, perhaps sleeping near, the Ranger Cabin in the Umar Hills that you were given by the Mayor.

When you do (again, assuming you are a Ranger, have been given the Cabin after defeating the Shade Lord, & aren't Fallen), the Forest Spirit should give you a quest to go back to the Temple Ruins area, where you'll find the 1st half of the journal & can use the cache to complete the quest (after a few conversations, that is).

ok i see. no my character isn't a ranger but if its part of that quest that would explain why i cant open it. thx. it was just a little frustrating seeing the cache with tab and not being able to open it.

imrahil is right ive had the same problem before it annoyed me so much i started the game again as a ranger just to see if it would work and yes you have to be a ranger to acsess the cache
