Coming to the end and some problems

Hi all, my group is just about done with ToB and my hopes have a hit a huge snag! Upon returning to face off against Balthazar we were attacked and a mighty battle ensued. After completing the battle I noticed that Kelsey no longer has spells memorized. This is odd in that earlier I could not get him to store triggers and sequencers. Well, I was able to set them up and now he has lost all of his spells. I went back to pocket plane and rested probably a dozen times hoping he would get his spells back but no such luck. I ended up beating Balthazar and the Ravanger but do not / did not think I could Melissan with Tactics and Ascension installed (I think I also have Redemption...but am not 100% sure). Well, I ended up leaving Kelsey in PP and took off for the final battle with my PC, Anomen, Jaheira, Saerileth and Imoen. Things got worse upon arriving as Irenicus showed up first, then Imoen was turned into the Slayer and finally Bodhi showed up. I was able to quickly beat Bohdi and the Fallen Solar. Sadly, I also killed Imoen as i was unsure if I had a choice (might go back and try somethings). To follow the two previous threads I had hoped to have Irenicus join us, but didn't get it to work...some very interesting dialogue options if there is a path. Well, long story short I beat the initial group and then finished off the summons etc from the bottom left pool. At that point I moved everyone over to the far edge and saved as it was 1:30 and I needed to go to bed.

I have a saved game with Kelsey still around and would really like to figure a way to get his spells back as he has been with me since the first week (of SoA). I am likely going to go in through Shadowkeeper and see if that will work, but if not I am at a loss. I do not recall anything happening during the huge battle with the Mercenaries. Bottom line is I am not sure I can make it through the final battle without a magic user. My party would be left as Inquisitor, Cleric / Fighter, Druid / Fighter and Cavalier.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds to me like a bug. Do you have all the patches installed?

Yes, patches, fixpack everything is installed. If it is a bug it is the first one I have encountered in my current game.

Hmm... I've never heard of it happening before either, the patches was just my first guess. Um... maybe it has to do with one of the mods? I would try reloading and see if it happens again. Your save isn't that far back is it?

Did you install an XP Cap Remover?

Yes I did. I think I figured out the problem. Kelsey loses his spells for some reason when leveling up to 26 (I think...he went over 6 mil) which is within the cap of ToB (isn't it 8 mil?). So, I played some last night and just didn't level him up. I will probably go to an older saved game (b/f going against Balthazar) as the only saved games I have since then are after Kelsey loses his spells and after Imoen died (didn't realize I could just wait out the Slayer). With my group of 5 things went very smoothly until I had to face the "5". The promptly kicked my tail! Need to figure a way to try and split them up somehow. Having Imoen I think would have really helped as she could have laid some traps. As it is I was only able to kill was Illesera and that was after Anomen, Jaheira and Kelsey had died. I think in the end I just had my PC and Saerileth continually attack Illesera as I wanted to take at least one of them with me. LOL

You need a ToB compatible XP Cap Remover.

I believe I used the cap remover from EoU. Though isn't the cap limit in ToB around 8 million? If so, I am not sure why this would be the problem since he only has a little over 6 million.

EoU has multiple XP Cap Removers IIRC, and some of them are only SoA compatible. If you had installed one of them, it would have corrupted your ToB game files.

Oh, ok. Now if I have ToB installed then can I go above the normal SoA XP cap? If so, then there would be no reason for me to install it.
