I decided to take Saerileth along on my next run throught the game, but I have no idea what I'm doing when I try to install the mod. The folder with 5 files is installed onto my desktop, and according to the readme on the forum I now have to extract it into the BG2 folder. However, whenever I try to do this, I get about 800 errors and nothing happens. Is there a specific section of the game that I'm supposed to be putting this into?

I really am clueless here, so step by step instuctions would be heavily appreciated. I'm using WinRAR.

If you have successfully unzipped the mod, there is no need to "extract to" your BGII-SOA folder. Simply move them manually. Just make sure you put all five files into your BGII-SOA folder. Once they are there, click on the Saerileth.exe. It should give you the option to install. Let me know how it goes!

Er, by moving manually, do you mean cut and paste? I tried that and got some access denied message...

I think there must be something obvious that I'm missing here.

EDIT: could it be that I'm using the ToB disk?

Whatever disk your using shouldn't make a difference. You could have a SimCity disk or something in it, and it wouldn't make a difference.
Does the folder have the little zipper thing on it?

No, its not even a folder, its an icon, meaning that I'm obviously in the wrong place.

Ok, I've tried extracting the files into the BG folder, copying them there, and originally saving them there, and none work. I repeat: I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing, and everything I try gives me an access denied message.

...oh. I just assumed since you said you have a '...folder with 5 files installed onto my desktop...' Have you tried redownloading it? Try having it sent right to the BG2 folder this time.

1. Download mod.
2. On desktop you should see a little icon looking like a stack of books. Click and open it.
3. Highlight everything inside the now-opened icon.
4. Drag it to desktop.
5. Open BGII-SOA folder.
6. Highlight all the files you moved to the desktop in step 4.
7. Drag the above files and drop them into your BGII-SOA folder.
8. Click Saerileth.exe and run.

If you have tried the above method and something still is not working, I would recommend going with Sir Goulum's suggestion and re-downloading it.

(I apologize if this post comes across improperly. It's just that Marty4 asked for step-by-step, and I realized I had not given that yet.)

It sounds to me like you are trying to do something to a CP that you are not the administrator for(the 'access denied' messages). Is this a personal at home CP, or an at work CP?

Thanks everyone.

I am searching aorund for a folder marked just BG2- SOA (Or even ToB or something), but all that I can find is the disk itself, which is read only. I have tried copying or dragging all the files into every folder in the BG2 game, but with each one I either get a read-only message or the setup.exe file wont do anything (it says that I need to use it with the infinity engine). I am the administrator of the computer, and it's a home computer.

Sorry for being a n00b, but can someone tell me where to access the BG2-SOA folder that I must put these files into?

My Computer-> Cdrive-> Program Files-> Black Isle-> BG2- whatever(SOA or TOB)

For the C drive, just look for something with a capital C in it. NOt sure of the name.
