what strategy do you suggest using for when you get jumped, but the antihelm royal army when your trying to use the 3rd key and open up the seal. there are about 6 hardcore guys you have to deal with, and in the entire battle I was only able to kill the one enemy, of course it was a hive mother beholder, but still I feel like a sissy. can anyone help me out with some sort of strategy? my guys are pretty low level, but this hasn't stoped them to this point. level 13-15 they have a ridiculous amount of equipment from almost all the level 2&3 quests. this is the last thing i need to beat before I go to the spellhold, but as previously stated I'm having a little trouble. please help me out in you can ------------------ "They come in the dark. I realize you're playing Watchers Keep as an add-in while playing BG2, but I'd like to move this to the ToB forum, as not everyone who plays BG2 has ToB. You labelled your thread VERY well though - well done!
I will move this thread here, you will get more replies that way. |

They're a pretty tough bunch, especially if you are only at level 13-15. You sure you don't want to wait till later? They are only one of three groups of people you will have to fight (though they are the toughest of the three).
All six are dangerous, but the two on the bottom left (the hive mother, the marilith) are probably the most dangerous. Put your most dangerous tanks there. They should be buffed up with haste and other protections. Use summonings to distract the ones on the right, the one on the top right has a wicked bow and the one on the bottom right is a dual-wielding kensai. Summon these BEFORE you try unlocking the seal. Greater malison is a must here. If you have any Lower Resistance spells you can cast them, but you'll have to cast them on at least the hive mother, the marilith, and the drow, which will take three rounds. Any AoE spells like AbiDalzims that you can cast which will not affect your party (which at level 13-15 I doubt you have access to) are very important. It's a pretty tough battle from where you're at right now, good luck. |

Oi... ...
*rubs both temples* Why do people always insist on commiting suicide in the game... *mutter* *mutter* I shall just assume that everybody in your party is level 12, so that means you only have access to level 6 spells and below. You need to have at least the following, Breach, Cloak of Mirroring/Shield of Balduran, Shield of Reflection, if you want to have a good chance of winning at the current level you are at. Summon creatures to aid you in this fight, your Cleric, if you have any, can summon Aerial Servants and if you have a Druid, summon Mountain Bears. Position the Aerial Servants where the Hive Mother will appear, while the Mountain Bears should go to the Kensai and Archer side. Equip your best tank with the Cloak of Mirroring and/or Shield of Balduran, give him protection from poison too( like the amulet, Periapt of Proof Against Poison). You need poison protection because of the Marilith. This tank will also need some form of Charm protection, Shield of Harmony will help here. He/she is gonna to take care of the Hive Mother, Marilith and the Succubus with help from the Aerial Servants. Remember to Breach the Marilith too, to get rid of its' spell protections. Remember to assist the tank as well, he is going to be the main focus of attention, so that other party member can get free hits in. Equip another party member with the Shield of Reflection and engage the Archer with ranged weapons like throwing axes, slings, darts or whatever. With luck, the Archer will end up killing herself. All other spare party members will fight the Kensai, with assistance from summons, remember to cast supporting magic from your Mages and Clerics. And good luck... ... I hope you did not download Improved Demogorgan... because it will be an impossible battle with your current party level |

This is going to be a real toughie given your party's experience level. My team was into their twenties when I encountered that bunch and it still took me numerous attempts and several failed strategies to kick their arses.
A few tips: 1) Summon pets. Probably the most obvious but also the most important thing to do. Summon them before you touch the seal and since you are limited to 5, pick your most powerful ones. Since you probably cannot cast the most powerful summoning spells yet, it may be a good idea to use scrolls to get some powerful pets. And contrary to what Dundee said don't use any animal types against the Huntress (archer) cos she can charm animals. Also have a mage/priest stand back from the melee and summon pets to replace those which have fallen. 2) Protective spells. Use all the protective spells/scrolls you've got (protection against fire, fire shield, globe of invulnerability etc.) to buff up your posse. 3) Gang up. Have your best fighters concentrate on taking down one opponent at a time while the pets distract the rest. Personally, I singled out the Huntress first and started working my way from right to left. 4) Throw at them everything you've got, including the kitchen sink. Be very liberal in using special abilities, items, wands, potions and the like. 5) Pray. You're facing tremendous odds here so good luck! |

I still use nishruu to distract the spellcaster on right side.

This is not cheesy as the Guardians are not allowed to leave the Keep - but you are. Sooo...
Take them out one by one and leave through the portal each time to save, rest, heal and 'tool' up... It's the only way to do it if your party isn't a very high level... |

thanks for all the advice. the big battle is set for tonight. I'll post and let you all know how it went, and no I'm not waiting till later. My characters should be tough enough to beat these guys. If not I think I need to start over.
