Just playing Pool of Radiance on my old Apple II/e and wondered: why didn't they put javelins(sp?) in BG/BG2???

side note: I sure do post a lot of unimportant things!!! Just noticed.

Probably due to excessive size?
I mean the game is HUGE and there are still a lot of things that were ommited.

I'm just saying wouldn't it be great to have another ranged attack for beast masters and druids instead of slings?

I must also agree. The idea of throwing pebbles at a Demon does not appeal to me. At least I could penetrate their heart with a hefty javelin throw.

You can make a Throwing spear From IEEP, that is quite good, and you can like use the animation from the gesen bow......

has anyone ACTUALLY ever thrown a javelin in real life? it's kinda tricky, and, if implemented, would not likely have any more attacks per round than slings. besides, there are always darts, knives, axes, and the Dwarven Thrower (not Dwarf Thrower) that can be thrown otherwise. And the Ixil's Spike +6 in ToB might as well be thrown because of its awesome power.

I think the game is just fine as it is, and they were likely left out because of the extra time they would have to spend. They already left out the Haer'dalis romance and the Twisted Rune quest because of time constraints. We should applaud them for an excellent game. (and criticize them to their faces on the Bioware Website, cowards )

I think javelins in BGII would be KICKIN!!!

But, as said many times already, (it seems I always state the obvious! ) there were too many time and other constraints for the Black Isle team. And I don't really think a javelin would be that expensive, but I do think they should do alot of damage. Think about it! (what are the 4ft., 5ft?) Well whatever, a long shaft of steel flying into your chest! OUCH!!!! THAT WOULD HURT!!!!

On more technical notes---they would cost a larger sum of money than most other unenchanted weapons, but would do alot of damage. I also think they would have a slow attack per round compared to other weapons... also they would take-up alot of space. (imagian trying to carry twenty or so steel javelins!!) I also think that you could re-use them. (I thought this about throwing axes too mind you.)But after you throw something like an axe or javelin you should be able to walk over and pick it back up. I don't think steel would break like a arrow shaft!!!

Anyway... thats my two cents.
