Making brew in Dragons Eye! - Help Please!

Hi!
I'm stuck in Dragons Eye when I have to make the brew. I have the modified Mandrake Root, placed it on the right table, and when I try to pull the lever it says: "This worn lever emits a strong odor made by chemicals an alchemist might use. Acid has fused some of its gears together, but it looks as if someone has been restoring it".
I have never met the Alchemist that is suposed to wander around here in the area.
Please help me out here!

Dunno how you could have missed the Alchemist, since he doesn't appear until you're ready to make the brew, and then he's hard to miss. Or maybe you killed him and didn't realize it?

Alternatively, someone in your party with a very high alchemy skill can fix the lever. Never did that myself, though, as I always had the alchemist do it.

Thank you very much Nightowl2 for your quick answer.
I have had this problem since early this year march, april or something like that. In frustration I put the game away over the summer, and today I started it up to continue the quest. And what a surprice when I solved my problem!! =)
It is funny how easy it can be to miss a small detail like this!
What I missed was to show Nheero the Mandrake root before putting it in the lab.
When I showed it to him the alchemist apppeared and I was now also able to pull that lever!
Now I'm happy for a while! =))

Yeah, I've shot myself in the foot that way a few times, too. Sometimes, knowing what to do can be dangerous, as you're apt to skip something small but vital. Glad you figured out what it was.

Who is and where do I find Nheero? I'm currently stuck in Dragon's Eye myself. I have cleared the 2nd level, except that I cannot seem to figure out how to free the people across from the torture room.

Since I couldn't figure that out, I went down to the 3rd level, but am stuck there too -- there are several doors I cannot open and an eye I seem to continually run from. Any help on my best next step would be appreciated. (I saw in my journal a reference to a sword with "Manly" (or something like that) stiched into the hilt, but cannot find it in my inventory -- does that have anything to do with it?)

As you probably guessed, Nheero is in the area behind the locked door

Go back to the torture room and play with the rack. That will open the door.

Ok, please spoil me. All the torture racks have question marks and say something when I click on them, but none do anything. Could you happen to point me to exactly which rack to play with? I'm wondering if I have a bug (yes, I have patched the game).

Is there more than one rack in that little room across the bridge? I never noticed if so. Anyway, if I recall rightly, it's the one on the left, and I believe you have to click on the wheel portion not the body of the rack. A trap is set off when you do this, so you'll know you did it right
