Let me get this straight, is it true, for IceWind Dale II, that you can never reach lvl 30 (the max lvl)? Or do they award your characters with more experience points as you lower the difficulty settings?

30 is the maximum level you can reach in the game. Usually, only those that go on to HOF mode reach that exalted height

For a typical group of six, 15-17 is the average finish in normal mode; a bit higher with a smaller party.

Difficulty settings have absolutely no effect on experience. HOF is a sort of exception, since the monsters are much, much nastier, so give more experience. However, for any of the regular modes, xp per critter is the same throughout.

Well exp in regular mode depends on your party's level compared to the creature's level you've defeated. If you kill an orc with a solo level 1 character, you're going to get alot more exp than if you kill that same orc with a level 8 party of 6 (you can actually get 0 exp if the creature is really outclassed).

True, Gimli, which is why short parties can get a bit higher in level by the end of the game. However, dificulty mode has nothing to do with that. A level 1 character who wastes an orc on insane gets no more or less than someone who does it in ordinary difficulty. One of my pet peeves about IWD2 is that very fact.
