Hello, fellow believers...

Well, I headed out of the Serpent temple last night, back heavily laden with stuff... Go to Ishad N'Ha, and identify / sell stuff. Then Ryanamur, Sazerac, Moni, and Mammawlin alle help me to understand the concept of "guild-hopping". (Uh. Me RudeDawg. Me have stick. Hit things with stick. Ugh.) Yup, they spoke slowly, and used small words, and I got it.

I join the Dojo, buy +1 Longbow and Tak arrows. Then Saz tells me about buying / selling arrows. So, I get rich quick. Unfortunatly, then also mention that when I get to the Warrior guild level 5, I can get a Fletcher skill. Then , get the Dragon Arrow from the Dojo, and make many...

I got greedy. Instead of going to finish the Serpent temple, I figure I'll go do the two quests, get my skill, go get the Dragon Arrow, and become a THEN , I can make short work of the Serpent badguys...

Didn't work out that way.

I head west of Ishad N'Ha. Find a hovel, and a girl who tells me about a dragon and a gnome. Continue on, find a treasure chest. Then, a bunch of critters attack me. Then, some ratling thieves. I kill 'em all, and start to loot thier pockets, and BAM!!! I start wheeling... I'm dead.
As I fall, I see the strangest shape I've seen in the game so far. I got the vague impression of the creature from Alien.

Reload. This time, I stay to the OTHER side of the path, and avoid that stuff. I find a house with some ratling assasins talking about killing that thief I met earlier. He asks for a favor, i said "no" and we got it on !
I was ducking and weaving and shooting (My bow skill is doing good. I feel comfortable with ranged attacks now) and then laughed inmy victory. I set off at a run down the passs, and right into a BUNCH of those things... WHAT THE @ !%#! $ WAS THAT ?!?!?!

OK, I think I found those mantraps y'all mentioned.

No tactical spoilers, now. Can they be taken out by steel, or will I need spells? DON'T tell me how, just tell me if I CAN...

SORRY (I hope you didn't read the 1st version of this post), You can take them by steel and by spells.

Once you've killed them, go take a look at my Mantrap Ambush tread... only once you've killed them

Good luck, god speed.

CAUTION TO RUDEDAWG: IF YOU DON'T WANT SPOILERS, STOP READING AT MY POST, there're some good post ahead but also many spoilers... your call

Srry pal, at this point in the game... the mantraps have unlimited hitpoints and can resist all magic. RUN LIKE HELL!

Just kidding, they CAN be killed... and fire magic is probably your best bet.
Good luck!

could it be in the form of an Amazoni Mantrap? They have a bad habit of hitting you from behind....

Well, poor little RudeDawg doesn't have Sun spells cause he's a warrior turned into a ranger... he'll find this encounter REALLY FUN.

RudeDawg,
Oh, those awful mantraps! Of course, decision is up to you, but I would recommend Spells
Please, tell us about your battle with mantraps, OK?

Why have you rejected rattling-thief proposal (to kill some guy)? It's really good deal...

Sincerely Yours,

You can kill them with both steel and with magic. People have different ways. My advice is to finish up Serpent Temple first. If you decide to spare the snake and hit the priestess first, you can get the snakeskin trait that will help you in hitting those mantraps.

Good Luck.

Tananda:

Rudedawg is busy fighting right now... he's probably on his 27th try

He probably refused 'cause it goes against his roleplaying ethics. Plus, he plans on finishing the game as a Ranger... enough said.

OK guys, let's remember NO SPOILERS, NO TACTICS UNLESS SPECIFICALY ASKED FOR.

Rudedawg is doing it the real way

You can kill em, Ranger Dawg! (but wished you hadn't killed the ratling just yet!) Yep, those are the lovely Lilies you have heard about. They make great cole slaw and they are worth some experience too.

Mammawlin
p.s. Good tease by Night Blade going on there!!

If you must, can't you buy a **** spell or two now that you are RICH????
