My ranger is now level 5 and I keep getting butchered by the snake lady in the graveyard. I would of at least been offered one measly +1 longsword by now if this was Baldur's Gate...Whats up with that?

And its also nice that our dear female paladin wants me to go out and take names and kick ass... but at the same time wants to overcharge me for potions and items

This game is alot of fun but at the same time rather annoying.

And no spoilers or tips on how to kick snake girl's hindquarters please..

I'll figure it out by myself in oh maybe 3 more reloads [img]tongue.gif[/img]

Well its all about luck sorta.... becuase Items are semi-randommly produced in chests etc.... for instance I have played the game through a fair few times.. and just about 20 mins ago I just finished the Peninsula/Jail quest with a ranger... and I got a +1 longsword in a chest... but My first game I had a F/W and I got a halberd +1 of the Head Gaoler... but the other times he hasnt dropped anything...Anyway so you really SHOULD have a +1 weapons of SOME description (assuming this isnt the first waterdhavien quest you are doinf )

And Aribther charges the standard 125sell 75 buy prices IIRC.... Olgerd in the prelude is the fairest merchant in the game .. he goest at something like 110s and 90b

1 +1 simitar: her weapon

1 +1 short sword: in a box

1 +1 qreatsword: in a box

I'm quessing my PC saw me complain and got scared

Like Glorfindel stated, it is completely random. Some of the chests have set stuff, but some (especially the ones around the boss monsters) are random. Some people even practice "chest harvesting," which is saving, opening chest, seeing if they like the item, then reloading and reopening if they don't. Cheesy tactic if you ask me, but everyone's game is their own.

Dude, you were level 5... The designers did a good job at lower levels in not being Monty Haul. But then they really messed up in C2. There are all sorts of weapons good enough to get you to game end, if you get "lucky."

Yeah I wasn't expecting to find a "Vorporal Blade +6" but I was at least expecting for one of the merchants to have a +1 sword... come on finding a standard +1 sword at a smith is like going to Kmart and finding cheap clothes.

Damn, that was just too cool. I have to say that I agree with you there. Level does have a lot to do with it though. When I was going through the 1st chapter, it took FOREVER to find magical items. Seems like once that was breached, a PLETHORA of stuff started to appear. In the prison I was finding +2 Long Swords and Magical potions/amulets/belts. Geez. What's up with the feast or famine. I'm starting to find a lot more +3 items so I guess it goes about every 4 levels or so. I was about 5th/6th level before I found a +1 weapon. Was about 8th/9th level when I found +2. Just turned 13th level and starting to find +3. *SHRUGS* Go figure. Magical armour seemed to come a lot easier though. I was finding +1 half plate or full plate when I was 3rd level or so (which really sucks cause I am a Ranger - LOL). Now that I have thief and Sorceror though, I am finding a WIDE assortment of items. Initially, I would just find basically weapons or armor. I am getting sick of all the staffs that I have been finding now (NEVER saw one before I added Sorceror). Jeez.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I didn't mention this, but I have not passed Chapter 2 yet (keep re-starting Chapter 1 or Chapter 2. All my friends are past Chapter 1 now, so mainly in Chapter 2).

If you go to the Docks district, the merchant there sells +1 versions of just about all weapons and armor. The district is fairly dangerous, with bands of thugs that will gang up on you, but you could probably run in and use the stone to get out. It's very expensive though, with most items costing around 1500 gp.

or you can simply collect smugglers coins in the docks, visit the auction.
