How do you get Minsc to join?

My party's relatively good (I'm a neutral good) and I have Imoen, Jaheira, and Kahlid in my party right now. I'd like to pick up Minsc, since he was fun in BG2. The thing is, when I go to talk to him, he just talks, but I never get conversation options. He doesn't offer to join or anything. I talked to Edwin and said I wouldn't kill the witch, and figured that might help. What am I missing?

just want to know, have u done the knoll stronghold? Because that is where Dynaheir is. If you've killed he not knowing shes the with then that could be whats wrong. If not I have a few other ideas.

Nope, haven't gotten that far yet. Have recently arrived in Nashkel and am exploring right now. I've met just about everyone and broken into about every house looking for some interesting quests. Should I do the stronghold first? Would Minsc join me after that if I saved Dynaheir?

no you should definately be able to get him before that. Are you fully patched?

If you declined Edwin's offer, then accept Minsc's offer. When you say he talks, do you mean he just says something and you don't get a chance to reply at all? BTW, you may want Minsc in your group. He is the best fighter in the game.

What does he say?
I remember him declining me once, and I think it was a reputation/alingment issue (my REALLY evil monk)
He said something short like: "Go away, I don't like you"

All he says to me is something like, "I don't want to talk to you," and then mumbles other stuff. I never get a dialogue window, though, to actually speak to him. That's why it's odd. My character's not evil, she's neutral good. Everyone else in the party is either lawful good or a true neutral. So what's the problem? I definitely have all of the patches, too.

It could be your reputation, how many reputation points do you have?

Shotgun, does your character have low charisma? Charisma is important in BG. If you have low charisma, many characters will not talk to you and merchants charge higher prices.

True, but Minsc's charisma is also horribly low, so it wouldn't make sense for charisma to affect this
