...you want to tramp back up to level 2. If the 'door' hasn't been opened already, you're stuck in limbo land, no way to trans back to 3 and no way to open the damned door.
(It happened to one of my girls before the teleporters were put in, so if you use the back stairs, beware!)

If you can angle the screen and talk to the Skullport guard he (or she?) will open the gate out of Skullport and the gate from level 3 to level 2 for 100 GP.
On the other hand, I usually carry so many spare keys around that I could be wrong about that. |

No, if you use the teleporter or the alternative way to Skullport (rather than go through the gate/trans) and then decide to take a leisurely walk back up the stairs to level 2 (the way you're talking about), if someone else has not unlocked that gate, you are stuck. You cannot unlock the gate because it takes a specific key and you cannot trans back to level 3 because the *open* gate is the transition.
We ended up having another character log on to unlock the gate. My girl then fetched a key so it wouldn't happen again to her.

Greything, LOL, NOW I remember doing that once.. although from what Garnet says it didn't work for her? I think it did work back when it happened to me, but that was before alot of the changes to the various levels I had to talk to the guard, but you had to really work the angle to click on the person, not the gate.

The area where you get stuck is actually on lvl 2. I finagled my way down in to try and rescue Garnet, only to find that I was also stuck. It's a bad thing too, if the golem sees you...

Ok, in an effort to try to explain the problem more clearly since most people are not understanding my poor attempts:
You find a teleporter stone for Skullport on level one. You decide that you are going to bypass level 2 for the moment and go to Skullport to shop or whatever. You use the teleporter next to the drow at the trans to lvl 2 and *poof* you're in Skullport. Then you think, "there are so many new goodies on level 2, I really should go exploring!" You pay your 100g to the guards (in a rather backward transaction) to open the gates between Skullport and level 2. You enter the transition that will take you back to level 2. Only you find after you warp that the gate in level 2 is locked. It "requires a specific key" which means you can have the highest open lock ability and you still aren't going to make the roll. Hmmm. You try to transition back to Skullport but you can't because the transition to Skullport is actually the *opened* gate you're currently standing behind! There you are, stuck behind a closed gate and empty space. You bypassed level two in the start so you do not already have the key. No one has been through and unlocked the gate previously so there's no hope of that. You are now in limbo unless and until one of two things happens: either a nice person hears your pleas and curses and comes to unlock the gate allowing you in *OR* you can log out and the server resets thus re-depositing you in the Tavern. Option one was mine since Robert logged a character in to help (after his first became stuck with me). I tried option two and waited a considerable time but the other player in question seemed to be 'parked' (as in non-moving) and the server was unable to reset. Thus, the time that passed still saw poor Soirry stuck behind a locked gate. As I noted, the same thing happened a year ago when I was playing my druidess (first character in EfU). She had taken the sewers entrance (I think it is) directly to Skullport rather than the regular level 2 gate so she didn't have the key. When she went through the regular transition back to level 2 to explore, she got stuck behind the locked gate without a key. Upon reflection, it was a stupid mistake. BUT if I did't know that (and I didn't), it would be extremely frustrating (as it was then) and an apparent BUG.

Hmmmmm Z can we change the transition from Skullport to Level 2 to dump you in front of the gate rather than behind it?
Or allow the key to be kept rather than it gets used every time?

It has hapened to me too, the gate was closer than the teleporter and my laziness got me stuck.
![]() At least the teleporter works both ways. Maybe a sign at the gate warning travelers of the danger? ![]()
