Not a bug, per se, but I have noticed this on a couple of chars now, and was wondering if it's just me, or what.

So, I have these dagger specialists, and so, I have matched sets of all the really good daggers. However, it seems like I hit more consistently with the Ancient Dagger of Shadows, which has a +9 enhancement, than I do with the Drow Dark Daggers, +10, or lesser Sting, +11. What's up with that? Has anybody else noticed this?

Yes.

Lesser Sting seems to have the best AB but I also ended up using the Ancient Dagger of Shadow as it seemed to hit more often and harder.

Is this the old question about attack and enhancement bonus and how they work?

You did explain it at one time but I have never really got to grips with it and just end up using whatever works best.

you may want to post a listing of each of their respective total bonuses first. I've noticed the ADoS works best for me as well, but I figure it's just hungry for flesh and thirsty for death. The DDD seems to be more laid back, as if it knows sooner or later it'll slay someone. and as for the (lesser) Sting dagger, I've not found it better or worse than anything else I've used. mainly as I've not used it all that often. (harder to find that one.)

Ah, it's easy to find, the good version, that is. Just go see Wellard's buddies on lvl 12.
Exact stats not available, but the pertinent info is included in the initial post. Ancient dagger is a +9 enhancement, that's bonus to attack, and damage. Drow Dagger is +10, and lesser Sting, the good version, is +11. All of those are enhancement bonuses. It just seems that I hit better with the +9 dagger than with any of the others. Strange too, since my ab is higher with either of the other two, by the specified amounts.

A good test ground for checking the "hits" of a weapon is the drow rebel area on 13. those dork monsters take a while to kill, just count how many hits and damage over a period of time and then move on to the next dork to compare.

Yes. Well.

The Lake of Shadows is ok if you can deal out plenty of Dev Crits.

The problem is balancing hitting power with enough defence to take on the last two rebels.

Two handed weapons are great if they hit but a good shield keeps you alive.

Widow Maker did the Lake using a single dagger/shield combo. She scored frequent dev crits, and had little problem with the final two assassin types. I did stick with the Ancient Dagger of Shadows, however, despite it's lower ab. She also completed the Proving Grounds, with much the same results, with a couple of exceptions.

Edit: On the Proving Grounds; if Merca seems a bit confused the next time you face her, it might be because she's still trying to figure out what happened. My third attack, of 4, was a dev crit, so she may be shell shocked.

Stat wise, it would seem to be, but in practice, with much experience with dex based dagger wielders, the ADoS seems to work better, although it's enhancement bonus is 2 less.

I have to agree with Rob, I get far more hits from using the ADoS, currently doing a dex based with a pair of them and took out the dragon in the void on 12 in a reasonably short space of time (for a lvl 30 char), I've tried that before with theoretically better daggers without as fast a result.

p.s. for Mozenwrathe - what did you want the armour for? Forgot to ask you while we were BBQ'ing the dragons. Only asking because I already had some in my pack and could have saved the effort (as I realised afterwards - doh!)
