I really hope to see this forum start up (as good as BGII is doing). I believe it is a great opportunity to be here and exchange chats about the novels that make it all happen. After all, it was the Forgotten Realms novels that inspired the BG games, and I would love to talk about the books. I have only recently began anew to read some of the books that I had bought, but never got around to reading. It is wonderful to be back into Faerun again.
Ok...my opinion...The Avatar Trilogy, teamed up with Prince of Lies and Shadow of the Avatar Trilogy is the best ones written under the Forgotten Realms title...My reasons will be explained to anyone who cares to comment against it, or ask why... |

mmm...It seems that if they would put the novels onto a computer screen, more people might read them than they are now...mmm

Agree with you there, it was probably the greatest trilogy written because of its epic scope. I never read Shadow of the Avatar. Care to give me a synopsis on what it was about without giving too much away?
If you liked Prince of Lies you should read Crucible, it's the funniest FR book I ever read. Also if you want more material on Faerun, esp. on fallen civilizations like Netheril and Cormanthyr, click here for a bunch of free downloads. You'll need Adobe Acrobat Reader. |

Thanks Memnoch...
The Crucible, eh?? Well, so far, I am in chapter 11 or something in the 1st book of the Shadow of the Avatar Trilogy. Mystra has given her essence to Elminster for safe-keeping while she is a mortal. This has taken away Elminster's ability to use magic. Of course, he has alot of enemies that would take advantage of the opportunity, right ?? You'll be surprised to see just how good Elminster is at taking up for himself without magic!!! Even though the Harpers have been assigned to guard him, he goes running around, attacking an evil aligned castle by himself, and leaves his "guards" behind!! Truelly, this is an exciting novel... BUY IT !! |

Hmm. I spent about $80 AUD on books yesterday, "Death of The Dragon", "Seige of Darkness" and "The Simbul's Gift". Death of The Dragon was $A50!!!!!! the most i have ever paid for a book but it's looking good so far.
