Could you recommend me some good novells that deals with the Forgotten Realms? Perhaps some that deals with the big guys, like ELminster and Drizzt?
It will be a big discount on books in the country tomorrow, if I am lucky that will go for the imported books too

Oh, and which books should I have to play some PnP rpg? I have never tried it before, is anything else than the rulebook necessary (like monsters manual etc)

I would look out for some Forgotten Realms Novels. There are several good series. My favorite are the Harper Books. I have around 12 or 14 and they are quite good. Another AD&D favorite of mine is the Cloakmaster cycle, set in the Spelljammer Universe.
For D&D 3rd PnP the players Handbook is just fine for a good start. The Monster Manual should be the next on your list unless you have some old and want to change the stats (which is quite a little bit of work, however). The Dungeonmasters Guide is nice, but not necessary in the beginning.
A rule of thumb: For PnP-RPGs always read (or buy) first the Players Handbooks to get an impression on character system and combat mechanics and so on. If you like the game, then start buying the rest. And for most games, it is possible to run some beginners adventures without suplementary material, to get a feeling on the gameplay.

I have just finnished reading the dark elf trilogy (Homeland, exile, soujourn). They are awsome books that detail Drizzts life before he left the underdark. I have just started reading the Icewind dale Trilogy(The crystal shard, streams of silver, the halfings gem) this is just continuing the story of Drizzt from just after where the Dark Elf trilogy left off). They are both excellent books and well worth the investment if you can afford them.

I recommend all the Forgotten Realms books of R. A. Salvatore. All but the Cleric Quintet deal with Drizzt and his "friends". R. A. Salvatore (Complete list)

Oh yes and if you want to start playing PnP Roleplaying then D&D have a free trial game you can download. It contains all the rules and information that you need so there is no need to go out and buy any rulebooks(You my need some dice). Heres the link:

http://www.playdnd.com/fastplay.asp

If you like it, and want to start playing D&D properly then you will need the 3 core rule books.

- The Players handbook
- The DM guide
- The Monster Manual

These are quite expensive though, but they are good quality none the less.(you may be able to get away with using only the Players Handbook) as there are plenty of sites out there with rules for the various monsters.

I found out off Larry earlier this week about this site its very good:

its called creature catalog = http://enworld.org/cc/

Thats about all the info I can give you on PnP Roleplay as I am new to It my self, actually I only started this week.
