What is the movie where the guy stands in the bell tower takes out a sniper rifle and starts shooting people? I know this movie gets a lot of paradeys(sp?) but whats it called!?!?!?!?

Are you sure it's a movie? They might be parodying (is that a word?) the real event -- it happened in Texas in August 1966. Read all about it: http://www.crimelibrary.com/serial/whitman/

Isn't there a scene like that in Schindler's List? I haven't seen it for a long time, so I may be misremembering. Can anyone help me out here?

That's no bell tower: one of the sadistic guards gets his rifle, and randomly starts shooting people from his mansion. Those people are the Jews who are doing hard labour down in the camp.

so are you talking about shindlers list? I have seen that before but the movie that sprung to mind when you said that was Behind Enemy Lines (either that or enemy at the gate but i think it was behind enemy lines.)

The person you are thinking of is Charles Whitman. He was notorious for his shooting spree from the top of the tower on the University of Texas campus on August 1, 1966. Ex-marine sniper with brain tumor leading to that behavior (killed 14 people and injured dozens in around 90 minutes, before police shot him dead).
I know there is an old movie about the incident, but I checked IMDB and could not find it (they have a documentary about the event listed, but not the old movie about that). Anyone remember the name of the movie off hand? I hate when I should remember something but can't; it will bug me for the rest of the day now.
