if they count I'd also vote for the first three Bond movies (Dr. No, From Russia with love, Goldfinger). Afterwards the series never reached the same constant quality again.

I'me surprised no one has mentioned Dragonlance, the chronicles, and the legends series where great, some of the best fantasy i've read. Other then DL, i'd have to say Robin Hobb's "Farseer Trilogy".
