Hi all! I have been kind of quietly working on some DC things for the past month or so and I have a couple of questions about the quest event system in DC. Specifically, I am using trying to use the event editor to check if the party has a specific quest in progress, and if it does to do some things based on that quest being in progress. In the event viewer (I'd show a screenshot but I don't know how to post those to this forum...yet) I selected 'Quest Stage' for the event type, and 'Quest in progress' as the event trigger. Once I did this, I added the event and did my things then confirmed the action. Now when I select this event, the 'Quest' button underneath all the event type and trigger stuff is ungreyed so can assumingly select the quest which the event trigger is testing for. My problem you ask? Well, I click on that 'Quest' button and it brings up the list of quests for me to choose from, but even after selecting the quest a number of different ways, the 'Quest' button still says "No Quest" in it. And of course, in game the event won't fire.
Is the quest stuff done in the game? Or is it still being worked on? Any help would be greatly appreciated. On a side note, a *HUGE* thank you to all the people involved making this software. Since my FRUA stopped working after I upgraded my computer, this is really the only thing I have had to look forward to in the genre. Congrats go out to Harry Polsa too for creating the one and only (as far as I know) module for DC there is out there. It was a lot of fun to play! Thanks in advance! See you all around! |

Don't worry buddy the actual quest thing works hundred percent, I have the same problem and emailed Richard * sigh- I love that man! * oops sorry I sort of day dreamed when I mentioned his name, he is my hero you see..* caugh * anyyywwwayys! As I was saying, the thing actually works 100% but he changed it this release because he wanted to make it more compatible with the old FRUA. It didn't seem it worked but the problem now it cut of the string for the thing to work, he is going to fix it this coming release with new stuff. Problem is he is not able to post here because he has his work which is taking at least 60 hours or was it 90 * scratches hair * of his life. That means he hardly have spare time to work on DC you see.
Umm...guys did any of you understand a single word I said here? I tend to talk but to others I grunt and moan like a cave man.

Thxs for the info foody! I axiously await the next release then.
In the meantime, I was able to work around the problem, and my new 'technique' I think will work better for me than I originally thought. Rather than use a quest stage or something, I just created special items with the same names as the quests. In addition to all the event stuff working the way I want it to, I get the added bonus of being able to code a text message or something to the special item (or quest in my case), and I am actually going to use it as a sort of 'Quests the party is on' kind of feature for the game. And, because I can code certain events when the player 'Examines' the item, I can have the game reiterate to the player what the quest was about/what they should do/etc... So the player won't have to keep track seperately about what they are/should be doing.
