First off, let me say how sad it is at the IW Dungeon Craft Forums when I am the one who started the last four (well now 5) topics...

Darn Yahoo.......

But!

I'm not sure if IW supports some Polls or not (yes, I know the evil Yahoo Groups does), but I was wondering what everyone who still reads these forums prefers as far as the 'genre' of the storyline in the RPG they are playing.

Do you like apocalyptic storylines? (This is my personal fave)
How about meaningless hack n' slash?
Funny, goofy tales?
Dark and/or sadistic?
Erotic?
Coming of age? (i.e. new party/person just trying to make their 1st 'mark' in the world)

If you have any others that I am missing, please feel free to add them.

Discuss.

I discovered this only recently (Dungeon Craft), after looking into all the stuff that came out of Unlimited Adventures. I really enjoyed games like Pools of Radience (the 1988 one), Champions of Krynn, Curse of the Azure Bonds, etc. Sometimes the combat happened too often, but the games were very immersive. And I found all of this out well after the age of Diablo and so on.

Out of those I'd have to say that Coming of Age adventures are my favorite - especially when a new party is thrust into a very difficult situation against all odds (and so forth). My favorite Pen and Paper campaign involved coming out of dirt-poor peasantry to make a fortune as well as save a town from siege.

I also sometimes enjoy a dark genre, involving a bunch of evil yahoos attempting world domination.

As for meaningless hack n' slash - my least favorite genre, though I admittedly have never encountered the 'erotic' genre lol.

I like survival horror type scenarios. There aren't that many about, but that is one I'd like to make using Dungeon Craft.

Oh yeah, survival horror. I totally forgot that one. That is a pretty good one, especially considering the time of year we are in over here...(Halloween)

I actually never really like the survival horror until playing Alone in the Dark: The new Nightmare on my Dreamcast. I thought that was an excellent game, and a great example of Survival Horror done right.

IW does support polls, but not in this forum.

My favorite genre of the moment, is personal discovery, or "coming-of-age again" especially in a dark mystery- where the protaganist is as likely to be an anti-hero as a hero.
