Howdy Gang,

I've been listening with half an ear to the posts about items that may transfer to Wiz 8 from 7. Aye Serath, I did hear from Sir Tech that there is a list of items that will make it, but that it is highly confidential. Rotten bast....I mean that's clever of them I think.

Looking back at my best Wiz 7 save, my characters were sporting some the very best items game. But as I looked around the Chamber of Gorrors and the Hall of the Past, I had left many little piles of equipment. I had not needed this stuff when I finished the game, but looking through my mounds of loot, I found some cool items, like a Blade Cuisinart and other lesser weapons, not the best in the game, but still damn good items.

I have a feeling that some of the best weapons will not make it over, but some of these lesser ones will.

So, my thoughts are that I am going to experiment, and first drag all my belongings to a spot and load up with everything that is good. I want to find what will make it and what wont, that way something I might consider Garbage in Wiz 7 might be pure gold in Wiz 8!

I do remember importing my party from Bane to Dark Savant, and items like my Avenger, etc, Maenads Lance did not make it. I did however, get to keep my Samurai's Muramasa Katana, which is one of the best weapons. It did make the early part of the game a little easier with some nice slicing and dicing. I do recall, that my characters all started at level 5 (had been over 20 in Bane), and had really reduced stats. I totally understand them being wimped out, and I'm figuring things like the Cane of Corpus, Mercurian Light Shield and the Light Sword (waaaaah!) wont move over.

Anyone got any ideas on what might make it over? I too, want to start from stratch and use my old characters. The fact that I have two Faeries in my party might be tough in Wiz 8. I have a feeling the Faeries are as they should be in Wiz 8, weak little sprites. In Wiz 7 they are still pretty tough, ie my Faerie Monk does 25-30 damage per hit with his Kung Fu, which seems oddly unrealistic.

Well, anyone else have thoughts about this? (Besides Saz, just kidding!).

Being as this will be my first Wizardry experience (I'm a Wizardry virgin, I admit it) I'm not sure what might/might not come over. I would hazard a guess that it would be basic stuff. Seeing as how they are reducing the levels of any characters being brought over in the effort to make the game as challenging as possible, I can't see any high level items coming over either.

Hmmm...I dunno, I got both the Avenger, my Ebony Helm, the Muramasa blade, and the Maenad's Lance when I went from Wiz 6 to Wiz 7. (It took about 15 imports, though, until I was satisfied! )

Wizardry does have a habit of letting a "few" good items in. I just hope we get to keep the Light Sword. Everything else can go pppsttfff!

Hmm, you're right, I do remember now it seemed to be random which items made it through. One time I got the Muramasa, the other I do not think I did.

I did have the Avenger in Wiz 6, but I preferred the Excaliber in Wiz 7 as the Avenger can't melee. I wouldn't mind having one around.

Yes, Light Sword! I wouldn't mind the Cane of Corpus after the hell I went through to get it, but who knows?

And my two Zatoichi Bo's, those are damn fine weapons! Great for Samurais and Monks in the back row. And the Blunderbuss, I'd like to keep the guns and turn one Samurai into a Gageteer, and let him blow stuff up.

I'll probably rename him to "Macgyver". Ha ha.

So, I guess the question of the Epoch is, are there particular items that just wont make the transfer, or is it random, or both? I seem to recall it being random from Wiz 6 to 7, but I don't know about from 7 to 8.

I also wonder what stats I'll keep.....ah....its months down the road so I shouldnt bother too much.

there are those among us that have played and played and played wiz7. boosting stats and lvls and different endings. opening and reopening chests to get the best stuff. and yes it is hugely difficult to get a cane of corpus, let alone two! these diehards have posted and begged and played over and over in preperation for the overly long awaited wiz8. should these efforts all go unrewarded?

i for one am hoping that they change the import process completely. i hope imported characters start based on how they ended. with the game cranked up to challange the hightened abilities. add some more dice to the row for spell power...change the AC lvls to an even lower setting... i dunno. there needs to be a way to keep your characters and their stuff and keep it challanging. god knows they have had long enough to work on it.

i want them to let you carry every item in your maxed out inventory and give you a locker in the first room!
