i'm actually trying to play through wiz7 again with only two faries. it is an exercise in frustration so far. the prize that i have my eye on is 2 corpus wielding/most every spell having/lvlwayupthere/death-bringing ninjas. but the last time i did this was over 5 years ago, so there are some things i have forgotten. i know how to get mind control and of course firearms, but not sure about the rest of those handy skills. could someone post a list please?

Hi Slug,
Let me see if I can help here. What skills are you referring to? Faeries, as I remember, cannot use muskets, but I think they can use Laser Pistols. And the light sword. I dont have the list of where to get the special traits handy...Saz? On that note, where is the second Cane of Corpus? Scronan |

There are 6 personal skills:
1: Firearms. You get it in Ukpyr by training with the Umpani. It allows you to use muskets, blunderbusses, and (later in the game) the Frontiersman Phaser Pistols from the City of Sky. 2: Mind Control. You get it in the Dane Tower on the 3rd level (the one that's all dark). Pay a visit to the Psi-Beast and learn the "Word". Then meditate on it in the meditation chamber. A quick way to max out Mind control is to retreat from the chamber, then re-enter and re-meditate over and over again. Mind Control, among other things, lets you walk around the Orchid Field without falling asleep (the Ring of Stars from Wiz 6 lets you do this as well), and keeps you from going insane a lot of times. 3: Power Strike. You get it from invoking the Power Crystal in the Gorn castle in the Wizard's room. It doubles damage inflicted by weapon strikes. 4: Reflextion. You get it from Ratskell's Den in the Rattkin Ruins. Ask Bleinmeis about the "Ring of Reflextion". He'll sell you one for 12,000 GP. Invoke it. Effects are increased parry (you leave behind a holographic trace of yourself, making it very hard for opponents to strike you). 5: Snakespeed. (Probably the most difficult to get). First, you must find the five flowers Xen Xheng sends you to find. (You can find them without him, but you'll play merry heck trying to figure out how to mix them). The five flowers are: Red Rosis (found in the Giant Caves), Blue Mythia (found in a crag in the Ukpyr mountains), Yellow Lione (found in the Ukpyr mountains), White Dahlia (found just west of the "Witching" zone in the Tramontane forest) and the Purple Plumac (found on the 3rd level of the Witch mountain). Merge the Rosis and Mythia, the Plumac and Lione, then both together. You'll have something called "Orchid Ambrosia". Merge the stinky Dahlia with holy water (you can get it from Father Rulae in New City, if you haven't found any yet), and then merge the Ambrosia with the Dahlia water. You get a potion of Snakespeed. Drink it to get the trait. Gives increased speed and reaction times in combat. 6: Eagle Eye. Deliver Jan-Ette's banner to Dame Ke-Li in the City of Sky. She gives you a crystal, when invoked, gives the Eagle Eye trait. Increases the "to hit" ratio; doubling or even tripling it. Hope this helps. Most of this is from memory from a few years ago, but I think it's accurate. The only one I'm not sure of is the mixing of the flowers for Snakespeed. The note from Xen Xheng will help there, though. -Sazerac. (Great thread!) |

I had forgotten how long it had been since I played this game until I tried to remember the names of the other personal skills. I had to look up the names in the user manual.
Power Strike is the first skill I found because it is in the Orkogre castle. Right after you meet the ghost of Murkatos you find a gem. Using it gives you Power Strike. Reflextion is given to you by Blienmeis after you are in the theives guild. Snakespeed is what you get after you get all the 5 flowers, mix them up with holy water (in a special way of course) and then drink the potion. Eagle eye..... AAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!! I have forgotten where you get Eagle Eye! If I could only remember a little, I know I would remember all of it! As for Scronan's question, I understand that if you kill Blienmeis when you first meet him (as the blind begger), you get get the ring and then go up the the theives guild. Sure enough, he will be there waiting for you and be happy about seeing you. (How you can be happy to see someone who just killed you is beyond me.) If you kill him again, you get a second Cane of Corpus. Don't forget the Ring of Reflextion tho. Knarfling ------------------ Only two of my personalites have delusions, but one of them is paranoid and the other is out to get him. |

That it where it is!!! Thank you Sazerac, for the answer. You must have been posting while I was trying to remember it. It has been way too long since I played.
Btw, I did use a two player party, but I only had one fairie ninja with a Cane of Corpus. The other used the *Light Sword* and they kicked some serious butt. I always thought the best combination (for a two player game) was a fairie ninja with a Cane of Corpus and a Fairie Rod, and another ninja with a *Light Sword* and a (Now I can't remember the name of that cool mace you can use as a 2nd weapon.) Diamond Mace or something like that. The *Light Sword* did more damage, but the Cane of Corpus had more chances for a critical hit. ah yes, thank you.
2 faries have become less frustrating now that one is bouncing back and forth from ninja to lord. the other has become the babysitter (for now) as his stats didn't warrant the change soon enough. anyway, i made a pile of tabi gear i got from temple of 5 flowers, and now 2 items out of 4 are missing! arrgh. does anyone remember where some ninja gear is lying around, other than the Yazuka treasure? perhaps Xen Xheng has a favorite hangout that you remember? i'll need enough to outfit 2 ninjas. with 2 cane of corpus, i'll finally pick something besides the light-sword from the city of sky. and as knarfling says, you kill blienmeis twice basically. now there is a fight you have to do a few times. |

Slug: see if you can run across Xen Xheng when he's wandering around Lost Guardia. He generally has Ninja garb for sale. It tends to be fairly random what's in his inventory.

Hi Slug
Oh, I see how it works now...I made a Faerie Ninja and a Faerie Monk. The Ninja has the Cane of Corpus and a Faerie Rod (does A ALOT of damage for a secondary weapon). The Monk has the Light Sword and Pandoras Wand - Which does all ailments, but poor damage. It someone isn't stoned, they are dead if you attack with it. A Ninja cannot use it, but a Samurai can, so its a great weapon for them or a Monk. And its not Pixie only, like the Faerie Rod. Hmm, their armor classes are so low (-25), that they never get hit, but terroize the enemies with their attacks. Its almost unfair to the monsters it seems. ![]() Scronan ![]() |

walking the line...
i didn't want to push it with the umpani encounters, but i am not yet tough enough to take on T'shobers ghost. i can still present my orders to the gaurds, and i can practice on the range. but the wandering umpani NPC's are getting surly with me. and the weapons guy is quite upset. i know this party is going to turn the corner and become unbeatable, but the road is long and frought with danger and disapointment. |
