Ok, so my party made it through the first parts of the game,
killed all the rats and crabs and the other small prey in
the first areas... it was pretty hard, for my newbie party,
but they did it...

And now... they are a TOUGH crew, whopping ass everywhere they go!

So I went back to the monastery and arnika, thinking that I'm gonna
really show those little bastards who's their daddy... no more 50-round fights, now I can kill them all with one blow !

NOT.

Because suddenly all the enemies have toughened up as well.
What's the point?? 8-(
Why level at all, when there's no difference in how much ass you can whoop?? 8-(

To the game designers... When I work hard to get an experienced party, I want to reap the benefits... I want to go back and kick some ass, I wanna see how BAD I can be !!
Its tiring to constantly be the underdog...

And also the game crashes too much.
I have no other complaints. The game rules! 8)

The designers WANTED this game to be tough and challenging from beginning to end, I for one, applaud them for it. Too many games let you build uber-parties that are completely unstoppable by mid-game, and it becomes dull pretty quickly, IMO. Of course, you can always drop the game down to novice mode, it's still plenty challenging, but not *quite* as tough.

As to crashes, have you installed the latest patch, drivers, etc? I *knocks on wood* haven't had a single crash or lock-up yet with WIz 8.

You went back too early... If you want to whoop some arse, wait till you get a good collection of spells. Then you can walk in there, summon elementals, freeze them all, fireball... etc etc...

But I mean how tough are ya, if ya go back and pick on stuff that's so much lower than you? If you go back and pick on stuff ya can kill in one or two hits, and find that enjoyable - put the game down - cuz as you press forward, you're going to come up against monsters that cast... and my oh my, what fun that is! I don't mind that the game is tough, but when I notice that the computer adapts the resistance to how experienced my party is,
it feels like it's cheating...

Challenges should come from new areas with new monsters,
not by giving old monsters more HP etc...

Well if I remember correctly, the old monsters you go back and revisit - are given new names, depending on their level (i.e., green slime, level 1 monster in the Monestary becomes a level 18 fleshslime, that you might run into the swamp). This makes it so no matter where you go, you should still be getting a fair amount XP.

Don't worry too much, though. There is a limit to how tough slime can get. The monsters in a specific area do have an upper limit, and once you get over that limit, then you kick tail without breaking a sweat. For example, the Arnika road gives you bandits, Brigands, Cutpurses and Highwaymen. The highest is a Brigand and once you can whale them, the Arnika road becomes a walk in the park. To get the tougher monsters, you move to a different area.

Good Luck,

In responce to the first one...

There is a game reason why it gets harder when you go back to the monastary...

Spoiler alert************** regarding endgame, weapons, stuff.

OK, here goes... remember the door in the Lower Monastary, it requires a key you find in Arnika. Remember the note in the cell with the skeleton? the sign outside the door... dont feed the rapax... the mention of al-sedelex (or something or other), and the weapons in the tomb... that the weapons are still a threat because he couldnt get in... didnt have a key...
if you want more spoiled read further

well, al_sedexus is a demon, you will meet her later in the game. The door that you cant get into is unlocked with the wheel key, the tomb nehind the door contains a few spirits and two weapons. a sword and a bow, the do double damage to demons... or al-sedexus when you meet her.

I am with Merkin on this one...every new game that has come out in the past has been eventually knocked for being without challenge.
People wanted more interaction with the party members they use/create, they wanted tougher monsters, they wanted a game that would keep them on their toes and not become a trip to the same old same old everywhere they went....I think the Wiz 8 designers had these people (namely US) in mind when they made this one and I have to hand it to them...I had challenges to face from start to finish.]
I loved it!
Yeah, some of the monster-types may look the same, but they do get harder to beat as you go along and they all have their own special attacks and resistances...(that rocks )...and slimes LOL...I love that they now come in colors!

I am playing with the first patch...updated drivers on all my hardware and the only time the game has crashed on me is when I have abused my system beyond its limit i.e. playing for over 6 hours straight (without ever shutting down to let the memory rest) and reloading repeatedly when I insist that some spellcaster to cast a higher level protective spell.
