Hi Everyone,
Just a friendly note to inform you that Wizardry 8 is now available in the UK and also several places in Europe courtesy of that spiffing company - Strategic Plus Software - which is based near London (sort-of) in England. I actually ordered my copy about two/three weeks ago when everyone on this and the other Wizardry 8 boards were going on a psycho-rampage (that's Jubilator-talk) about the Americans getting the game first due to the Electronics Boutique 30-day exclusive deal. They told me that the game would not arrive in the UK until around 15th December, but lo and behold I was surprised - and pleased - to come home this afternoon and find it waiting for me! (it was actually with an elderly neighbour, who was quite confused about all this “fantasy” nonsense and this led to the usual “Young people these days” speech! ) So, apparently Strategic Plus have it now, and since I was already something like no. 60 in the queue for the game they appear to have A LOT of copies. So, go and order it from them! (if you want to...) About pricing, it cost me around about £45 to receive Wizardry 8 here in Bath – specifics are.....let me see...some £38.29 for the game, some £1.28 for the postage & packaging and then VAT of £6.92 makes it £46.49 as a grand total. In American Dollars, that is about $65.00. It IS quite expensive - about £10-15 more expensive than what a standard game would cost me - but given it was imported from the other side of the Earth, I'm not too surprised...oh, and it comes in a BIGGGGGGGGGGG box - the Americans like MASSIVE boxes it seems for display purposes (as opposed to the general games industry push to provide games in those cheapo DVD cases), with a huge manual (though not as large as Civilisation III's manual!) and, surprisingly, the CDs in paper wallets, not the jewel cases they are usually in. Strategic Plus also ship to most European countries, including Scandinavia, but I think it takes something like a week or so to arrive, plus about £5-10 in shipping costs (but then, how desperate are you for the game?) The website address is: http://www.strategic-plus.co.uk/ Generally they appear to be a reliable and trustworthy company - unlike others I have dealt with before - I used them before to get Throne of Bhaal (the BGII expansion) - and give them a call if you want, their chief man is Ken I think, and he seems charming enough. Anyway, that's enough from me. I best go and play the game now - though annoyingly, it has to come at a time when I am half-way through Return to Castle Wolfenstein (a truly excellent game), as well as the brilliant Civilisation III, the superlative Empire Earth and the intriguing Art of Magic: Magic and Mayhem. Well, it seems I'm just spoilt for choice - and now I have a 6-week university Xmas holiday to play nothing but Wizardry 8 (and others). Here's to Strategic Plus for being so cool, and obviously to SirTech and the enigmatic Linda for being so (extra) cool and generally jubilatory-fantastic for what looks to be a GREAT game! Yours, The Ecstatic Jubilator, Saturday 8th December, around 9.30pm. the_strange_one666@hotmail.com __________________________________________________ _______________ Am I an Ecstatic Jubilator, or am I a Jubilant Ecstaticator? Well, it doesn't really matter, 'cos I'm HAPPY __________________________________________________ _______________ |

And if mail order only then will they take a check (pounds sterling, not evil euros). The site was a bit slow (but then the computer is pretty full at the moment) but please, anyone keep me informed as to how long I'll have to keep the axe to the grindstone and grumble about the bad things about life in general.
