I haven't even bothered with Dungeon Siege until I saw that it's only $20 with the expansion here in town but I'd like to know what you folks think of the game.
Is it fun? I read the review on gamespot.com which gave it a 5 out of 10. Of course, I never based my decisions on only one opinion/review. Anyway, I'd like to hear what you folks think of this game. Thank you.

It's NWN without thw dialogs.
Seriously, I could almost think Gas Powered Games stole an alpha copy of the NWN engine... Anyway. It has the same style of graphics as NWN, but dialogs have no dialogs choices, so it's more a 3D Diablo, while NWN is a 3D Diablo with dialogs. You can have party or play solo, you can buy mules, you can create your own maps. If you like adventure/action game, then 20$ is not much for it.

I am playing it right now. It is $10 CAN at WALMART. It is actually fun much like Diablo, but it can grow tiresome at times as it is truly a hack and slash. Get the best equipment, hack, slash away again etc. The only dialogue options are in choosing to hire an NPC or not to join your party or at stores. The quest are nothing big and you don't really gain much by completing them just your journal gets updated. The environments are nice and the world is pretty seamless meaning no loading times. Nothing big about the game but OK to go through once, I think there may be some replay in multiplayer world but have not tried multiplayer yet.

The conspiracy theory in me tells me that MS stole from Diablo 2, made it into 3d, then bioware made NWN after looking at it and added an element of BG series to it. As for the game itself, I don't mind it, just not something to replace BG series as that "special" game.

welps, i bought it last night and i have been enjoying it so far.
to me, it seems to be a combination of neverwinter nights and darkstone. in fact, i think it's closer to being like darkstone but with the added feature of the camera that you can zoom in/out and rotate. anyway, this game doesn't seem to have much depth but it's a fun hack n' slash. by the way, is magic neccessary? i plan on having a party consisting of 2 or figthers and two archers.

So far magic doesn't seem to matter much but it is nice having someone level in Nature Magic for healing. Build up Nature Magic until you can use healing wind than concentrate on melee or archery.

It is the best game you will only play once, then uninstall. :s

I think I am nearing the end of this one. One of the things I find about this game is there are times I just what to put it away but just as I do something occurs that makes me want to keep playing. I believe it is the boss battles thay are well done and not totally mindless.
Minor Spoiler - - - - - The Dragon had my four person party beat, so I went back hired an extra mage, and 2 more fighters so I beat him with a party of 7. It was starting to get hard with 4 and since I believe I am approaching the end so I picked up another fighter and dropped my mule at chapter eight to make my party eight. With all the high level fighters the game sure as become easier although I think I benifited by sticking with 4 for so long. I made it to the Chamber of Stars, which had some nice visuals and am now walking along to what I believe is the end that I am approaching in Chapter 9. I definetly will not play it over but it is good game to go through once. [ 04-25-2005, 11:51 AM: Message edited by: pritchke ] |
