How About These Multi-Class Combinations?

It has been some time since I played an RPG. Icewind Dale and its add-ons was the last time I played anything of the D&D world which is some time ago. When I played IWD I created two characters that at first I thought of as just support for my party of 6. Eventually, however, they became my two favortite characters out of the whole crew: a Gnome Cleric/Illusionist and an Elven Fighter/Magic-User. I was wondering if anyone out there can tell me how these races along with these multi-class combinations work in BG2. I have from my BG1 days my half-elven Ranger in the old Last Save folder. The problem is that I don't know how to transport this character to BG2. Anyway, I may want to try the combinations I just mentioned. Any suggestions or insight will be most appreciated. Thanks.

Well the Multi-Class are pretty well the same as in IWD so if you understand them then u should be able to understand the BG2 ones

And Elven Fighter/Mages Kick serious Arse... they're my favourite type of Char

if IWD is a BG game add on (hmm not sure on that) you can actually import those char directly , either from the save game or the export file. (when creating a char, press "Import" button and browse to the save game file, and it will do it or give an error if not possible)

Otherwise, those classes are valid. You can recreate. They start with 89 000 xp at the beginning of the game, and the xp cap is 2 750 000 xp , and 8 000 000 xp if Throne of Bhaal installed. (basically three million or 8 million xp)
