I'm pretty useless with construction sets of all forms, or generally anything that might hint at requiring some sort of knowledge to use. So you'll excuse me if this is a stupid question (I have searched)...

I'd like to create my own race, and it's all very simple until it comes to modifying the body-model-appearance-thingy. Is it possible to just use existing models of races that already exist in the game (for some sort of crossbreed) without preventing the existing races in question losing said body parts? Or, as I'm beginning to suspect, do I need .NIF models of my own, and if so could anyone point me in the right direction for downloads/instruct me as to how I import these for use.

Thanks, and sorry. Thorrynks? K.

Yes you can use the existing models. You can have a new race to have the orc face, Red guard body, nord left hand, breton right hand, dark elf left leg, wooden elf right leg if you really want too. Just put in the 2nd cd into your cdrom because that cd contains the files needed.

The link may give you pointers.

Two important things.

1. You can use existing body parts in the game but you must create copies of them for your new race.
Therefore, if you are going to use the high elf figurine then you need to take all the parts of the high elf, patch the parts to your race, change the IDs and save them. Because the ID has been changed, a new copy of the object will be created, including the changes you have made. The original will not be modified. If you only update the piece then the high elf lose the body part.
IIRC, a particular piece of the body cannot be shared between races, so that the copies are neccessary.

2. Do not forget vampire heads! Each race has two, one for a male, one for a female.
