Hi!
I've been playing Wizardry for a while and this forum has given me lots of advice. But now the search function doesn't help me anymore and I need to post my own question:
My party is in levels 18-19 and I chose to take the Umpani underwater caves to get to Bajjin. The party is pretty good, but now the Trynnie and Vi Domina (the only one who can cast sould shield!!)refuse to go underwater.
Now,these Psi Sharks seem to be too tough for my party of six.
Any ideas how to avoid or kill them? Is it possible to get to Bajin with two party members missing?
I'd be happy if you could help me!

If you want to take an RPC with you to somewhere they don't want to go. Overload them with heavy items run a bit so they become unconscious and then they will go with you. (against their will).

Or enter the area without them, set portal, go get them, and portal in at will anytime.

Psi sharks without soul shield gotta be really tough, unless you are very high level.

You can also get to Bayjin from

The Swamp (through the northeast corner), and that way you won't encounter Psi sharks (at least not on the way to Bayjin).

And Welcome to the Forum!

It is possible to go everywhere with a party of 4 (in expert ironman). It is possible to go everywhere with a single character, i heard (at least in easy with lots of reloads). A party of six should be able to survive down there.

As dplax wrote, there are ways to for RPCs into every area. Another trick to do this is to release them, go in, set a portal, recruit them again, and teleport back. Be warned the the unhappy character will suffer from a hex spell while within these areas. But Vi should be able to cast a low-level spell like soul shield even when hexxed.

Another possibility would be to wait until you gain another level, and learn the spell with another party member. Or buy the book from Crock.

Hey, Wereboar, i finished a solo on Expert who went everywhere in the game and only reloaded 4 times. (most of my solos have not gone everywhere, though. There're a lot of places you don't need to go)

You may not be too thrilled with Vi if you force her along. Not only will she be hexed as long as you're in the hated area, she also whines and moans the whole time. This is true of any NPC who you drag kicking and screaming into a location they don't like.

The overall best NPC to take along is RFS-81, who happily goes anywhere with you except the Rapax Away Camp (for a special reason). In my early playing days, he was the one NPC I always took. Eventually I didn't take any at all, as I knew the game well enough and didn't need any extra hands.

Vi is much more tolerable in the area she doesn't want to go if you turn your speakers off (or at least character voices).

Admittedly, she is hexed by her discomfort, but she still manages to do okay with a dread spear and with low to mid level spells. And she is still a fine meat shield.

Yes,I've noticed her complaining before, when I tried the T'Rang transporter and ended up in Rapax Rift. But this stupid Trynnie is much worse and talks a lot more!Anyway, she'll have to come with me. I hope W8 is not like Baldurs Gate, where my complaining character suddenly got insane and killed the whole party!!
