I'm struggling to believe that this has actually happened.

Well, I would need more info to declare free speech dead. Why he was asked to leave -- especially in light of the rules of the parliament re ethics and statements -- is an open question that the article does not address. I've seen the weekly "questions" broadcast, and my inclination is to say that free speech certainly isn't dead on the floor of the parliament, though some members may be.

If there weren't rules over what you can say about other members of the house, debates might quickly degenerate into personal accusations.

Free speech isn't dead, Blair regularly got hammered in PMQ's over this and go and watch Wednesday's edition - it's as lively as ever.

Whether Blair lied to the House or not is a matter for a committee of MPs to decide given the balance of evidence, not for some seperatist Plaid Cymru MP to wildly state.
