Thanks to the British here who obviously care about the people of the United States enough to weigh up the costs of helping protect American civilians from wrongful death.

I guess the Americans who fought for Britian against Wilhelm and Hitler were foolish to think that when their own nation was under attack, the British would graciously return the gesture.

No truer friend than Great Britian?

The true colours are coming out. Possibly via a bias media.

I wonder if the attack had been in London what the British reaction would be?

I'm getting distressed by the apathy, ignorance and loathing criticism of imperfect humans trying to work a way through the quagmire of these events.

It seems everyone is a genius who knows better than Blair, Bush or any other elected official.

I am personally hurt by the disproportionate weighting given to the lives of Afgahnis over Westerners by people from England.

Furthermore these views push my own views, tempered by my faith, into the other extreme.

I actually have a balance view and regret war, yet this forum brings out a warmonger demon in me.

In union square I actually debated for peace with those calling for war. Faced with these views I am pushed into the other side.

Thus I will leave the war forum for a while, and cool off.

It is not something I'm enjoying anymore.

I'm sure Dramnek will spout anti-Semetism, anti-Americanism in my absense, but I couldn't care anymore.

Oh, Yorick.

You have misunderstood completely.

I am very sorry you have reacted in the way you have. As I said in the other thread, nothing of what I said was an attack on any American (except Bush, who is fair game as far as I am concerned.)

I was, and am, merely questioning the wisdom of the war in Afghanistan, and its ultimate usefulness as regards anti-terrorism, for all the reasons I pointed out in my post, and which I will not go into here.

At no point have I condoned terrorism, and nor did anyone else.

In response to the biased media point - certainly no more so than the American press - very likely less. However, that is a matter of opinion, and fruitless to discuss here.

I'm very sorry you have chosen to take our comments the way you have. I look forward to seeing you back here very soon.

Mandy.

Hold on Sky!! Wait up a minute...

I think we should remember that Yorick was actually in NY when the attack happened, also that a relative has just died. It is not surprising that he is reacting strongly to stuff, so let's try and be as understanding as possible, okay, sweetheart??

You are right Fljotsdale. There was even speculation that the Government knew about Pearl Harbor and did nothing so the public would demand we join the fight. (This was never proven, though!)

That was possibly the most offensive post I have read here Yorick but I understand how it was meant. I feel I should point out a few things about the beleifs that I have and the difference from the beleifs that you think I might have.

I am not an anti American. I personally feel that the attacks on 11/9 were horrible. But I feel this war solves nothing and kills people in doing so.

I am not an anti Semite, but I am an anti Zionist. They are very different.

I am a very strong Christian, but can't reconcile my beleifs with the bombing of innocents for no gain.

Also I feel the need to point out that it suprises me that there are this many anti war brits on the forum. I don't think it is very representative. Sadly the "true colours" you speak of are not really coming through at all here. We are still involved in killing people as we always have been.

I DO NOT value the lives of Afghans above Westerners. You have obviously not read the argument/discussion I had with Ronn when I first came to this forum. We should value everybodies life equally. Just as bin Laden's killing of innocents to acheive his aim was unjustifiable so is the Western retaliation. We are both killing people who have done nothing and don't deserve it.

The British media is not biased against the war. There is not one anti war daily newspaper. The media is ridiculously pro war here. To say differently is just ignorance. I am sorry if that seems a heated comment but it is true.

I would put more in this post but I don't really think you care what we say anyway. Anything I write now will just reach a knee jerk refutation. I am sorry but you really pissed me off with that one.

Two things before I shoot off.

One. Mandy, thankyou for your understanding and gracious post. *tearful hug* Thankyou, and I'm sorry too.

Two. Skywalker, Fljotsdale: Hitler did not bomb Pearl Harbour. Neither did Wilhelm in 1914. Irrelevant to the point.

As I have been pissed off by posts here. I too am a strong Christian. I'm sorry to return the "pissed off" feeling your way.

See ya.
