Every once in a while in Morrowind, i get rewarded with an unusual battle from an otherwise run-of-the-mill npc. A battle with a bizaar sequence of actions or something that takes me completely by surprise. It happened a while ago, but most memorable for me was a battle of skills with a conjuror atop one of the Ancient Dunmer Strongholds (not sure exactly, but i think it was Andasreth)
After clearing out the lower levels, Urival stepped out onto the roof and was greated by a couple of deadbeat types. The first fell without incident but the second, a conjuror with a decent magicka reserve, squared up at one side of the temple style ash pit and summoned a greater bonewalker. I usually like to totally go totally overkill with a daedra in response to a petty summoning but this time - since summoning seemed to be the only thing this guy could do - i played along. I positioned Urival at the opposite side of the pit and summoned a skeletal minion. Both necromancers stood watching their summonings duke it out in the pit. The skeleton dropped first and i replaced it with a Least Bonewalker summoning. For another minute or two the conjurors watched the battle and again, the greater bonewalker came out on top. Thinking the two time victor to be on its last legs, i reverted to the skeleton minion for my next summoning. Sure enough, the bonewalker fell and was replaced by another which easily defeated the skeleton. Time to up the ante. I sent a Bonelord into the ring and the battle lasted longer than i would've thought. In the end, the zombie fell and the enemy conjuror stepped into the ring to dispose of the bonelord. Bad move. As soon as the bonelord died, i unleashed the power of one of Urival's better necromantic enchantments - The Bone Staff. Before he could cover the distance, a skeleton, a ghost, a bonewalker and a bonelord appeared between them. (If there's a facial expression i really wanna see implemented in Oblivion, it would be surprise!) The conjuror put up a good fight for a second or two but gave it all up when i added four more identical summonings from my own reserves. I just wish now that i had've taken a snap of eight undead horrors overwhelming a hapless conjuror in a dunmer stronghold's ash pit. Would've been one for the album. So, has anyone else had any memorable battles that they wanna share?

The trouble with Morrowind was that I never really had them. The NPC's were either A) To easy, or B) Way to hard, then to easy later on.

Ah yes, that conjurer had some Ebony Armor, if I remember correctly.
Really, the most memorable moment was awhile back... I had powergamed my Hand-to-hand and Acrobatics skill super high, and got in a fist fight with a Daedra Lord. Beat him up pretty good, yes I did. |

Nice post, Sever.
I can't recall too many epic battles that ultimately took my breath away, but there was one hilariously unforgettable encounter I had with the Dark brotherhoood. My monk SirJude was suffering from low finances after a huge training spree and I was resting alot, spending points, then resting again in an inn near Suran I think (could have been Molag Mar or Sadrith Mora, I forget) but anyway unbeknownst to me, due to some odd kind of bug, outside the door quickly filling the rest of the inn with more of their evil spawn each time I rested, were about 10-20 dark brotherhood wieners, all keen on slitting my throat. Somewhat panic stricken, I desperately got out my trusty poisoned long sword, drunk some skooma, and backed up against the closest narrowed room wall, hacking like a mad bastard. I must have got through 3-4 of them which gave me some space to run out the room and find some higher ground, but ended up only backing into another room for another stand when I saw how many of them there were. Thankfully I had enough potions to keep myself alive and also used a little tactical nous to close the door on one or two of them, so I wouldn't be overwhelmed. I'd also jump up on the bed and try to keep out of their attack range, using my monkly dexterity and some ranged attacks. It was freaky seeing all them come at me at once and I really thought for more than one moment, that I was for all practical purposes, one dead little Khajiit. Needless to say standing above all of their corpses at the end of it, heart in my mouth, erased my previous poor status somewhat! Yeah... that calls for another shopping spree!
One big mermorable moment for me was helping the "Dancer" find her ring. I was RPing my assassin back then, so I thought that if it could get me some gold, or at least some "favors" then I would help her out. I spent the btter part of 10 minutes looking for that god forsaken ring and finally found it. I went back to tell her I had ofund it, but, Doh! I didn't get the ring from the water. 10 minutes later I found the ring again, nad picked it up. I could barely hear what the voices were saying, but once I emerged from that pond I was attacked by a semi-invisibile bandit and the so called "Dancer" I was helping out. I quickly pulled out my Longbow of Marksmanship and Dire Shard arrows and began first turning the invisible bandit into a pincusion. At the moment, I was near death, my also being a pincusion, so I then unsheathed my sword of the mask and turned invisible. She looked for me, a sense of utter confusion on her face, when I got behind her and dealt a fatal backstab. Weary and drained, I looted their corpses of any vaulauable items, and headed towards Gnisis to rest and heal up. Note: My longbow of Marksmanship is a bow that CE fortifies my marksman skill, and my Sword of the Mask is a Longsword that can cast invisibility [ 11-20-2005, 11:36 PM: Message edited by: Kyrvias ] |

...Reminds me of when I let one of my friends play Morrowind, and he had a truly epic battle. Hacked and hacked and hacked at that mudcrab, until it finally dealt the lethal blow on him....
![]() Turns out, he had been fighting for several minutes with the mudcrab with a broken weapon ![]()
