A few years ago, I owned a Visioneer scanner and scanned some pictuers with it. I no longer have that scanner, and I realized today that I have a folder that contains some important pictures that were scanned that I never converted into jpegs...and they have been left in the format that the Visioneer produced them in. The file name is .max

Is there something on the web that can open a .max file, and allow me to make jpegs of these images?

Doing a search, I found a program that has something to do with 3D, but that cannot be what I need is it?

Note:The Visioneer software was called Paperport, I think.

Update: I found a Paperport Viewer on Visioneer website, but it only lets me view the images, not save them as something else.

Me tinks you have a maximum problem. I too learned the hardway about scanners, and scanned files, then much more so when I joined the penguin army. Your old scanner, used a solid proprieatry, never to be cracked file format of .max. AKA, uncommon, and not enough users to write a crack for it. So sorry Larry, but what I have gathered, you must have the old scanner program in order to manipulate that file extension. By chance can you get it from them?
Parting thought. Have you attempted to contact the vendor for assistance? Good luck.

You mean actually call Customer Service and ask for help from them?

As you said, Perish the Thought when instead one can sit in front of a monitor and ask online aquaintences to Google for him/her.

Hey...I've heard of that before...I'll try it, maybe. I heard this thing takes over all formats of files. I would just want it to open the ones I assign it to. Will that be possible?

Yes, you can customise it to only open certain image formats by default.

If you can view it, why not just printscreen and then paste and save?

Loss of quality, but yeah I had thought of that too.

These are old pictures of my great grandparents that I scanned with a cheap scanner and they are not the best quality to begin with.
