Personally i believe in reincarnation. There is no definate answer one way or anothere about reincarnation or an after life you just have to believe that what you believe in is the answer. I know wiccans, buddism and several other religions believe in reincarnation whail all forms of cristianity/Islamic and related religions believe in an afterlife. The major point about religions is to try to answer your question whether there is life after death and what you have to do to get into the "good" people's part of it.

This is a very good question. I, myself, believe in life after death but don't believe in god. I have great difficulty accepting that there is a divine being who can do everything and knows everything, but we're still stuck with this world! Whenever I think about all the evil there is in this world - wars, starvation, poverty to name just a few - I simply cannot believe that a good God would let all this happen without doing anything. That is just one of the reasons why I do not believe in God. (BTW, about the Adam and Eva thing: that has to be meant symbolically, it would not be possible. If we were all descended from two people, our civilization would have died of inbreeding.)
Reincarnation is a different thing. When I think of myself, I think of a very complex, manysided individual who even I do not understand fully. Every one of us is complex and unique. I cannot believe that our whole personality, all that we are is defined by little gray cells in our brain. There must be something more to us than that. This of course touches onto another subject 0 what are we, what is our consciousness? Personally I think that we must have a kind of "spirit" which develops, inhabiting our body until its death, then being reborn in a new one. However, more discussion about this would steer the thread completely off topic. I realize that some of the aspects I mentioned here may be offensive to some people's views and beliefs, I really do not want to offend anyone. ------------------ Kazara Sapphire Dragoness of ALSB Waitress at Cloudy's Cafe Guardian of the Temple of Aerie (specialized in GenCon and BG) Most Illustrious Arch-Magess of the Illuminati Lux omnis est |

some from of life after death is promised by most religions, to satisfy our desire for immortality as many people find it very hard to accept that there is nothing and that they will end one day. Unfortunatly eternal life is just wishful thinking, death is death is death.

Im an Aetheist and im pretty openminded and not sure but heres something you might be interested in. The law of conservation of energy states that energy can neither be created or destroyes but moves from one form to another. How that relates to what is referred to a soul I dont know but there you go.
My main point though is, Does it really matter a damn one way or the other?. Theres no point worrying about it, you will find out eventually and more importantly we are here now, we live for now, this is our time and we should not waste it by worrying about things nobody can actually know. Life is fleeting dont waste it, live it, for now is all we really have. ------------------ |

Modern translations that use the oldest texts and compare them for accuracy are way the best. But avoid 'paraphrased' bibles - they are more readable, but are also more liable to distortion by the beliefs of the translators. ------------------ Dubbed Queen of the Illuminati by Diogenes. |
