Jan is the very best, because of his gloves and glasses, being a mage too and his funny stories. Fits into any party, too.

Is Jan's thieving abilities better that Yoshimo's?

The best thief WOULD be Yoshimo once dualled to a fighter - I invested too much on him just fo find out that...well, you know. He'd be a hell of a backstabber. Unfortunately, all the other NPC thieves have their weak spots...Nalia is a wonderful mage but a horrible thief; Imoen is a better thief than Nalia, but she'd be a good mage if she hadn't been locked in Spellhold; and Jan is multiclassed, with low hitpoints, but a good spellcaster. However, taking into consideration only thieving skills, Jan is the best.
For all those reasons above, I'm thinking about starting a new game with a dualled fighter/thief - the choices for good thieves with decent stats in BG2 really suck. |
