traps have to be the single best advantage to a thief IMHO! they just kick BUT. liches keel over before they're first spell is cast, its cool. lure dragons into them, and voila, instant damage. they are just AWESOME. and kensai/thief sux. i tried it, even with use any item he couldnt wear armor. so he is useless. my bard can kick his ass, ha HA!! Traps do alot of damage, and work well, but I find them cheese. Sorta like cloudkill tactics. You shouldn't be able to kill a lich by placing traps where he spawns, cause you shouldn't know where he spawns till you fight him.
Placing traps in preparation for a retreat, however, isn't cheese and is a tactic I should use more often. And as for the topic, assassins are good in a close fight, but it's alot better to start as a fighter, then dual to thief and use shadowkeeper to change your kit to assassin. I just did 364 damage with my fighter/thief using a x7 backstab with the +6 staff of the ram. Sweeeeet. |
