damn... this is my 3rd time playing and something has gone wrong... im in the sewers under the copper coronet when i realise this dilema, the game crashes whenever i open the map and wriggle the mouse around... Is this a bug, has anyone heard of this before? I have reinstalled the game countless times, whats gone wrong? I do remember the only thing i have done to taper with the game was to remove the exp cap... could this be it?
One last question, the exp-cap or the removal of it, do i have to start a new game for it to function? Thznx in advance

Don't know, doubt that XP cap remover causes the hardware failure. Depends on your config too. Can try to re-install DirectX, drivers for videocard and soundcard. Heck while you're at it, update the mouse drivers as well Also, you can run the 'dxdiag' and under the video options, go through all the tests, see if all is OK. Try same for the sound card. Also there's the new GLSetup proggie out there, get that one, newer, and slap it on.
And so on. There's really many things to try. But unless you did some 'editing' to remove the XP cap, your problem shouldn't be caused by this. If you used the standard way of removing that cap, i.e. placing some special file in the "Override" folder, you can check it easily: rename or move that file to some other folder and see if it still crashes. Try things out

I've noticed the same thing. I removed the expcap over the weekend and now the games randomly locks on me. I'm going to try it on another machine and see if causes the same problem.

Just a guess...
Have you installed SoA and ToB? If so, using the SoA-XPcap-remover can cause crashes (at least on my machine). As far as I know there is a ToB-XPcap-remover available as well. No, you don't need to start a new game. [ 11-20-2001: Message edited by: Ugaya ]

quote: I had the same problems with the game crashing with the exp cap. So I had to take it out, and the problem was solved. You can go into the override folder and take it out. This should solve the problem for you. My game would never let me out of Jons dungeon.
