My son explained it to me. He said that Vereran's Day is regarded by the schools as a "Minor Holiday" like Valentine's Day, so they won't close, and any holiday where the schools don't close is not taken seriously by the business community. Pretty smart for a 16 year old.

Yeah minor holiday...rememberence of people who died for the country.....gotta wonder about peoples priorities.
